Well I disagree, from Windsor the Comerica Tower looks great! It may have a fancy top... but that's better than a flat top, like other modern buildings. There's hundreds of buildings in Detroit that look worse...

And all that main Fire Department building needs is a good power wash. It is beautiful building, especially those arches above the truck entrances. Back in the 1990's Denver developer John Madden wanted to buy that building, and put up a 40 story office tower named Firehouse Plaza on top of the existing structure (although realistically he probably would have just save the current buildings exterior, and put in new foundations). But the lack of office space demands ended that idea.

More midtown than downtown, I know. However, the addition to the rear of Wayne State's OLD MAIN building may be the ugliest structure in the city. The SW Detroit Hospital near Michigan AVE & I96 runs a close second.

Sorry, but I say Riverfront Apartments, mainly because, like the RenCen, it was designed as a fortress. Keep everyone out.

Pat McNamara would find the developer of that building and kill him/her if he was able to see that eyesore they named after him.

Ltdave, you've never been in the building have you? It's about as bad inside as out. First floor looks like the Ren Cen concrete. Ugly. Not much else to admire farther up. If anything, a nice view of the river.

My list in no particular order:
McNamara Federal Building
Trolley Plaza
Millender Center (not horrible but not great)
Riverfront Towers

I do like Comerica though, or should I call it One Detroit. My only real beef with it is how it interacts at the street. Would have been cool to see it twinned.

Not a huge fan of the cheese grater but I do like CAY and Yamasaki's One Woodward and how they represent that style very well.

I surprised no one mentioned the NAtional Bank of Detroit Headquarters. That building is worser than the Milli, the design and style of it.

"WORSER? What country are from from cowboy? Christ, learn the ENGLISH language Moe Ron."

No, I meant what I said. That's how ugly the building is. You have to create a new word to describe it. Who the hell is Moe Ron Mister English?

Well apparently you must not have much rattling in that head of yours if all you can do all day is insult people about off-topic issues. MasterBlaster huh, he must have blasted all the sense out of your head. You need to get a life really if all you have time for is childish games. You know what though, I will just ignore statements like "urBANeyes", as it just reveals alone to your fellow forum member how ignorant you can be.

I'm going with the McNamara Building: "brutalist" architectural style, primarily constructed of concrete and a monotonous facade. Sort of looks like an ivory tower, which is ironic for a Federal building.
