There is a damn big sail boat sitting somewhere near me, just can't recall where. I'll have to make sure I have my camera with me so I can catch it next time I spot it. Wanna say it's off Rosa Parks some place.

I had a job driving through the neighborhoods and I saw a huge one in the middle of a street near Brightmoore. I saw a lot of weird stuff around there.

Also my landlord has two rather big ones but they're well hidden considering their size. They're both wood and would be worth a fortune if they were overhauled.

That sounds like a sweet job.

I bet TerryH does it for free most evenings when craigslist has produced no results.

I am amazed at the number of 'dumped' old boats on city streets. often times they keep the trailer for their new boats. It pisses me off that folks that have so much shit on those who have so little.

Not really a land yacht, and not in Detroit, but still an interesting picture with clever caption potential:

You can tell that airplane graveyard isn't in Detroit--that aluminum would be going to the scrap man, one rusty pick-up full at a time.

Last time I drove down Freud by the river there were a bunch of old boats along there. I don't know if they are still there or not.

I thought the "Detroit Land Yacht Club" was a reference to cruisers, summer nights on Belle Isle/Jefferson!
