From the stories I hear out of my Livonia Friend, king of horsepower and collector of gas guzzling adrenaline-pumping toys and various lawn care gadgets...it is inevitable that there will be amazing fatalities on the trails.

These buggers are flying through the forest at speeds of over ninety miles per hour, in space suits to keep them alive in the extreme conditions. Granted, the spikes in the track make for some spectacular braking ability, but momentum after reaction time ALWAYS rules surprises.

HE left the trail last year, ended up over twenty feet off it in ten-foot deep snow, if he weren't with EXTREMELY experienced riders we might NEVER have seen him again.

(His trail-mate had an accident with MY jetski a good number of years ago, again with MUCH experience behind the handlebars, where a lesser rider got too close and couldn't control his machine...ending MY adrenaline pursuit!)

He's BACK up north, though, this very weekend. We'll see how HE responds to this news.

May God bless Brook's family in this time of loss...along with everyone who will not encounter this young man ever again.

Gannon,

You tend to capitalize entire words many, many times, in each your posts.

Intriguing.

If you heard me talk, you'd understand the emphasis.

All too often the points get missed here, so I've learned to set them off clearly.

Bold is my favorite, now that Lowell took away my colors.

A terrible story. Condolences to the Pattersons.

My husband was badly hurt in a snowmobile accident 15 years ago. I hated those things them and I hate them now. He recovered completely but he was lucky.

Very sad news... I don't have enough fingers to count the number of people I've known that were seriously injured or killed on snowmobiles and motorcycles. I'll have nothing to do with the damn things.

Sadly this will keep happening until people realize how much power is just the flick of a wrist away.

Very sad news this morning.

Maybe Granholm will impose a "sin tax" on snowmobiles and we can all feel better. (groan)

It is unfortunate any time that a parent outlives his/her child and a child must grow up without a parent.

Too many accidents on those things I'd never ride one. Sad
