On my picture taking adventure the other day I meandered my way to the 14 floor of the Maccabees building. As it was under renovation I had access to all rooms and views of town. This is where I found the vortex of midtown. look at the area and buildings around the Whitney building they seem to be producing some sort of circular phenomenon. Strange?  | |||

Hans57, are you referring to that darker circular area that fills most, well, maybe half of the lower right quadrant? That is strange. Did it look that way to the naked eye too? Hans57, was there anything else noteworthy about that location on the 14th floor? What would be really weird would be if some devious architect years ago actually planned all those buildings to produce this effect from that particular perspective. Were you taking the picture through a window? Older windows tend to be far from "smooth", and a lot of times trying to take a picture through them shows up all of the spots where the glass is thicker. | |||

LMich, there is a large dark orb due to the physical shapes and shadows of the buildings. What threw me off was Hans' comment about them being "around the Whitney" which they cleary aren't (no offense).
