Now you have to look out for off duty police officers boozing it up. Man, I could never live in a city like that. http://www.clickondetroit.com/ news/10652374/detail.html |

SS, I think the bat-shit crazy NIMBYs and fancy-pants New York kiddies do a pretty good job at keeping people out of A2. That being said, shall we start trying to dig up all the bad things CoD police have done or are involved with? |

From what I saw yesterday, Ann Arbor is like Detroit. They don't have a football team, either. |

folks, be fair. when you have someone who's posted over 11,000 times, you have to expect a few missives that are off-kilter. virtually every single one of supersport's posts are deeply introspective, fair, and articulate. now, supersport fumbles, and look at how the sharks swarm. quelle dommage. |

It only be annoying if we didn't have the perpetual Detroit gadflies posting weighted commentary on articles every single day. Now, other's know how it feels. I'm glad Supersport can pull off this satire. If anything, this is refreshing from the usual one-sided "look at how bad Detroit really is" banter. (Message edited by lmichigan on January 03, 2007) |

Who would ever want to live in a shithole like Ann Arbor. With a median income of over 70K and only 70% of the city's residents have college degrees. I'm surprised Ann Arbor isn't the worst city in the country. Gary, East St. Louis, Ann Arbor, its close every year. |

Detroit should be so lucky to have Ann Arbor's crime problem. It's sad the way Detroitists feel the need to snipe at other places in a desperate attempt to make Detroit's problems seem less bad. Ann Arbor has a drunk cop! St. Louis is a crime-ridden death trap (but it's citizens love it!) There are homeless people in New York! And vacant buildings in Chicago! Call me crazy but wouldn't it be more productive dealing honestly with the problems Detroit faces rather than finding proof that other city's may have problems as well. I hope that humble suggestion doesn't violate the Detroitists version of Sharia Law. |

Both the anti-Detroit media rants and the pro-Detroit media "satire" are equally annoying. There are probably dozens of threads that have gone in this uninteresting direction. |

If this were a thread about a Detroit police officer driving drunk and hitting somebody this thread would already have 100-150 responses. Shortly after it would be brought up that somebody walked into a precinct once and saw officers of the DPD eating pizza...PIZZA OF ALL THINGS! The fact that they were eating pizza is proof enough that they all must be lazy, and the thread fire would have it's fuel. I'm started this thread a)To jab CL in the ribs and b) Keeping the playing field level |

We all know that SS. Which is why the satire of the hypocrisy is so funny. The reason why late night comedy shows are so popular is because people realize the need to laugh at the way things are sometimes to keep from going crazy. So, in the words of my immortal 9 year old self, Ann Arbor has the cooties! |

Don't bring up the pizza SS. We don't need a 200 post thread on cops and members acting like idiots. That one got off topic a little too quickly. *For anyone who doesnt know, go read the why DPD sucks thread. |

a friend of mine in Huntington Woods once had his skateboad stolen at the park on 11 mile and Coolidge..he ran down to the HW police station and they were eating bagels. Bagels!!! muthaf******!Point is, this schitt happens in the suburbs all the time. Therefore, according to forum logic, the sunburbs are no better than the City of Dee-Troit, and, in fact, worse. Also--a friend of mine was in Chicago and his car was stolen. Jacked right out from under him. He went to the nearest precinct and they were eating Chicago-style hot dogs, and JJaba was doing his coney dog shtick on a soapbox in the corner. The cops were belly laffing so hard over the "chips no Pepsi" line that they didn't listen to my friend as the carjackers drove slowly away. bottom line, this happens in the suburbs as well as Chicago, therefore Detroit Rulez! case closed! |

2 up one loose, mi amigo...one loose indeed......one 17 year old with Wusthoffs on the loose. bottom line--Detroit = Good, Sunburbs = bad. seriously though, the real issue here is how the Detroit culture has totally devalued a human life....to the value of, what? a chicken wing? A perceived slight? a termination of a minimum wage job? And that human life has been so devalued in this culture that a 17 year old boy....a 17 year old boy....would go and stab two middle aged adult co-workers/managers....murder them....that is the real issue here. whether restaurant workers get killed in Royal Oak is irrefutably irrelevant. This is a Detroit Thing. deal with it. |

don't you have a drive through window to walk through? Seriously though, I am making a point here. How and why does a 17 year old devalue two lives to such an extent that he would so easily end them? and don't think for a minute that this doesn't matter, or explain this away as an "it happens everywhere"type of scenario. Fact is it happened here, next to the World Series....in the middle of Detroit. And all of the admittedly naive and/or ignorant people who patronized that place are wondering whether there are other 17 year olds out there who would so cavalierly end a life...and concluding that the answer is "yes." Fact is, there should be a zero tolerance for this in downtown Detroit. Don'tmake any excuses. That is how every other city in the USA succeeded...zero tolerance and no excuses. There is no margin for error with this schitt. |

Anybody else catch that this 17 year old was once charged with 1st degree sexual assault at age 13? At that age, you point the finger at the parents as far as I'm concerned, or perhaps lack of. This kid was doomed early on in life. |
