I remember watching this show as a youngster. Also, I recall begging my Mom to buy me "Oopsy Daisy" cookies at our local Chatham's. Anyone know if there's any video/pics out there on the net of his show?

There are books about Detroit TV that are easy to find at Borders or online. My older siblings were on the Oopsie show and they were totally freaked out by the experience, being shy kids. LOL

Clowns are creepy. Pure evil.

Don't most kids cry when they see a clown?

Bob "Oopsy" McNea was the only person to refuse an interview for my website. His reason- Why should I do for free what I get paid to do? After he saw the hits my site was getting he contacted me again, telling me that he would grant an interview IF I found a copy of a certain circus book that he was looking for.

I never made the effort to look for the book, but he still sent me an email every three or four months, promising me that we would talk "real soon." Needless to say, it never happened.

McNea was a pretty decent clown. You can see his work as Oopsy here,
www.detroitkidshow.com/oops.wm v
and Bozo here (after the Sagebrush Shorty bit)

Great stuff Ed! Clowns didnt scare me until Stephen King's IT.

Anyways, do you have the opening/intro to Oopsy's show?

Thanks!

Applesauce,
No I don't. WWJ/WDIV didn't save anything from Oopsy. If I ever come across any Detroit Oopsy footage I will certainly post it.

Dave,
The video works. Try Updating your media player.

Professional clowns are wonderful. Overweight women in clown makeup who make balloon animals for children's parties and church bazaars are terrible.

Oopsy!!! That inchworm was Squiggly Wiggley Worm if I am not mistaken. There was also a mouse that lived inside the cash register...Miser Mouse. I also kind of remember a hen or something sitting on a shelf.

Also loved the Friendly Giant! "Look up! Look WAY up!" Such a simple little show and I enjoyed it so much!

There was a short clip of the opening and ending scenes with the song on YouTube of Friendly Giant a month or two ago, now it seems to be gone. I hate that!

Unfortunately, Youtube only produced this footage of him in the Thanksgiving Day parade in 1973. That's the best I could do, sorry.

Unfortunately, most of the funny clowns are in politics. Sad funny that is. They're professional all right too... we're paying them.
