Something interesting I learned about the UDM Memorial Tower while researching it that I can clearly see in the picture, now, is that it was really built as a chimney for the on-site power plant, and that the clock tower is little more than a disguise for the chimney.

Lmichigan that is funny because the first time it was cold I saw the steam coming from the stack i had no idea it was a chimney and it really freaked me out.

Stylin: Trying to make it a bit easier for some.

Ok perhaps I'm slipping just a bit.
Let's add this one to the list. Detroit_stylin, you have a guess?

the clock tower at UDM actually holds the guiness world record for the tallest combination clock tower smoke stack in the world. there's your useless fact for today...

you can see the tower from the lodge: heading northbound when you cross over the davison, look directly over the expressway as it banks to the left. the clock tower is centered with the x-way. it's much easier to see at night, since it's lit up. and, i guess you'll have to wait until construction season is over. still neat tho...
