The Ilitch organization and its affiliated interests now control at least 160 properties in downtown Detroit primarily centered around Foxtown and the MotorCity Casino.

Ownership extends beyond those properties highlighted in the May 9 Detroit News feature.

Ilitch has been acquiring properties under other aliases recently. Some of those are Elizabeth Street Properties LLC, Moose Building LLC, West Grand River Lofts, LLC (perhaps readers are aware of and can share other affiliated names).

Maps.LIVE.com is the first attempt to plot the Ilitch controlled parcels.

http://maps.live.com/default.a spx?v=2&cp=42.332281~-83.05608 3&style=h&lvl=14&tilt=-90&dir= 0&alt=-1000&scene=5649368&cid= 6A9CE98C8240620F!213&encType=1

With acquisitions like this, surely there is a master development program envisioned by the Ilitch organization and the City of Detroit, but as of yet, unshared with the public.

So, Ilitch controls all three casinos? Are you sure?

I have to say, if I were in Ilitch's shoes, I'd acquire land under an alias as well...last thing he needs is for a single owner of a tiny parcel of land preventing a larger development by demanding an unreasonable premium for their property simply because Ilitch has deep pockets and big plans for it

Dnvn522, Wow!

Are you sure you took the time to review the map, its description and the various plotted parcels? Or are you simply looking to inappropriately make someone look foolish.

Further, my post says there are 160 or so properties controlled by the Ilitch family and the map lists 178 parcels. The map's description itself designates by number those properties under Ilitch control. Clearly there are about 18 or so parcels on the map that are listed for reference purposes or because they are otherwise linked to Ilitch acquisitions.

Thanks for the support.

thejesus, it depends on how he aquired the properties and how is holds them, if they were simple llcs, anyone could find out who they were owned by. The only real way to protect your identity would to hold them in a land trust. This is something that walmart does frequently to aquire property.

Show me on that site where it says that the last 18 pins are for "reference purposes". In fact the tag says "This is a map of property owned primarily by these Ilitch entitites:"

I'm not trying to make anyone look foolish...I was just pointing out an anomaly on the site.

FYI, the caption for pin 14 is wrong, that was not the Madison-Lenox at 285 W.Adams.

Jeez, this looks like it was quite the undertaking. I guess it was going to be time sooner or later that someone would finally demonstrate how much property they hold. How long did it take you btw?

Done in evenings a couple hours a nite by me and a couple of other curious friends who checked my work over the course of a week. Not as complex as you might think.

With people as high profile, and as secretive as the Ilitch clan, rumors unfortunately rule the day.

After seeing the recent Detroit News story & map, and "hearing" all the other rumors, thought it would be interesting to get a clearer picture at this point in time.

Did Ilitch pay $1.73 million for Elizabeth Street Lofts?
