What is the future of places like the Post and Cobo Joes? It is feasible that they stay were they are like Nemo's? Or would they move? It seems like the Moose Lodge or GAR would be idea locations for these establishments if they do decide to uproot.

Not sure about the post, but I know I would continue to go to Cobo Joes as frequently as I do now. That place is a gem. I would guess that fans would be just as loyal to these places as they are Nemos, etc.

Yea, they are both great establishments, but I hope none of that would change if they moved....to be closer to the new arena.

How well did these places do during the lockout? Were they hurting?

What happened to the places around Tiger Stadium? Seems pretty apparent if you take a look at that case.

Regarding Tiger Stadium....I know Nemo's is still there, but where there other bars that went under or survived? I was only 16 when it closed....so, I am unfamiliar with the bar scene

If there is a new hockey stadium Illitch will called LITTLE CAESAR'S AREA. instead of the Detroit's black boxing hero named Joe Louis.

Just as there is more than 1 "american airlines arena", I'm sure GM would not mind picking up the naming rights to another arena--especially on their home turf.

Danny; why does this and every other post you make have to be cast in such a negative racial undertone? There is no need in this thread and about 90% of the other ones where it seems you are trying to pit some white force against the poor black culture that it is trying to destroy? It just has no place in this thread.

Either GM or Northwest would seem likely to me.

You can see a LIVE.com map of more than 160 properties owned by various Ilitch controlled entities in downtown Detroit primarily clustered in Foxtown and surrounding MotorCity Casino. The map also includes 18 other properties in the area not yet controlled by Ilitch. The property details come from Wayne County real estate records.

Clearly there are groupings of contiguous properties suitable for a new arena behind the Fox Theater complex (southwest).

Karen Cullen, VP of Corporate Communications at Ilitch Holdings, Inc. is married to Matt Cullen general manager of the Economic Development and Enterprise Services Group for General Motors Corp; Co-Chair, The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy; chair of the Detroit Convention and Visitors Bureau.

At GM, Matt Cullen's group focuses on aligning GM's economic development plans with the interests of the communities in which GM operates. He has helped keep GM's Detroit presence strong without ever designing, assembling or marketing a car. Cullen was also responsible for the acquisition of the 5.5-million square foot Renaissance Center, replacing the historic GM Building as the Corporation's global headquarters.

Sounds like a marriage between GM and a new arena would be more than possible with this kind of synergy/leverage.

Yeah, synergy… and check for $60 million.

Naming rights will be sold to the highest bidder.

Tkelly1986,

Please reread my codespeak before you make any criticisms. The sentence I wrote is NOT in first person its in second person. I didn't wrote I think that... I would it LITTLE CAESARS ARENA instead of Joe Louis. I wrote if there is a new hockey stadium Illitch will called LITTLE CAESAR'S AREA. instead of the Detroit's black boxing hero named Joe Louis. Notice the word " Illitch" in the sentence. That's second person. Be very careful by take words out of context and assume that I wrote about what I think this so and so... I wrote what I predict about this person. Also check out what other people wrote about what would happen is there is a new stadium behind the Fox Theater.
