I heard a quote from Chris Ferchill, vice president of Ferchill Group developer of the Book Cadillac on Bloomberg Radio. He said that Detroit has the largest architecturally interesting inventory of undeveloped early 20th century large buildings in the country. He said that Detroit had a lot of potential. |

Interesting. I'm surprised that ALL of the condos are not sold in the Book Cadillac. Aren't there only 3 or 4 left? Maybe the info is outdated. |

it's gotta be outdated. the first paragraph says that detroit has the worst violent crime rate. didn't st. louis take that title away recently? |

In any case the crime rate is still consistently near the top of the list every single year. Not like Detroit suddenly dropped out of the top 50 or even top 10, right? Overall, a nice article from a respected source. |

A few million dollar condos are Ok but they need more NICE middle class housing downtown. Appartment buildings where people can live and got to work in Detroit. People who buy million dollar condos bring money not work. |

Kslice, You forget that those people who bring money also spend money. If money did not generate jobs then why is every retailer clamoring to get into Northville and W. Bloomfield. Money creates jobs... not always the best jobs, but people with million dollar homes need food and accountants and lawyers and all the other that come with that lifestyle. By them being downtown, they will tend to use these services downtown, creating jobs and helping to revitalize the area. JD. |
