Does anyone remember those giant whip cream cans? I think they were off Telegraph. I used to love to see those when I was younger.

Dude, we huffed those long ago...and there wasn't a deposit on the bottles so we just threw them out.

Somewhere in the archives, there is an entire thread on the over-sized landmarks we USED to have around town.

Damn shame the archive search feature doesn't work so well...Lowell gave me some tips, I think I'll try them now and see.

Found it!

Searched on 'whipped cream cans' through the 'atDetroit' portion of the Google search engine...but had to enter it twice.

I'm beginning to hate Google searches...too many ads cluttering up the main page. Their business model seems destined to crash in this direction!

After the big stove, the whipped cream cans were my favorite. Added a whimsical touch to the cityscape.

On my side of town it was the giant AC spark plug on a billboard at the northwest corner of Woodward and 8 mile. The billboard still stands, but the plug is long gone.

Haven't googled this, but the whipped cream cans were the Delsoy or Delsey Company. It was a non-dairy whip that consumers & restaurants used. I think there's a Toyota dealer there now.

I Googled "big cans" in Google Images, but I didn't get no whipped cream.
