Interesting and nice, but anyone else think that a carousel might be a little over the top and not exactly necessary for the riverwalk?

Absolutely not!!! I think it is very unique and the perfect touch for that section of the path. I think it is a great attraction and will be a natural draw. And knowing Detroiters, we'll "make it a tradition growing up" about going for a ride on the carousel. To me, it's an amazing component and will offer a sense of community pride.

Hey, we could have copied Chicago and built a gigantic ferris wheel. But then how creative and original would have have been? ;)

Wow. Very retro cool.

I'd also heard the carousel is fully accessible as well.

CUB, Nashville HAD a carousel. They dismantled it a few years back. Its in storage. Not sure what the fate of it will be. But its gone now.

Looks like the link has changed a bit but on the right side, the last slide show is for the carousel pics. How long that stays I don't know since it seems like a new slide show will move it off of the current list.

Where in Michigan are there other carousels? Greenfield Village comes to mind, maybe jjaba's back yard.

I found it doing a search...

I think they're pretty sweet except for the bald eagle which just looks a little plain to me compared to the other creatures....and the Mermaid looks like a 3-dollar whore and is grabbing herself, which is fine with me, but I can see some people complaining ; )

She's grabbing her heart grasping fo breath. She knows Michigan is one of the fattest states in the nation and she is a little worried.

The one at Comerica Park has to be the most uncomfortable carousel in the world.
