Hi everyone,
I just noticed Twingos surrounded by State troopers. Its windows are covered with paper and a notice says No Trespassing, MI Department of .........somthing. I think they didn't pay their taxes and are closed up at least for now.

Probably Masonic influences. Or the Queen of England.

quote:

It remained empty until January 2006, when it was opened by John Lopez, who had worked at Atlas Global Bistro and Agave, also now-closed, and chef Shawn Mac who had worked at Boocoo in Royal Oak.

Nice track record.

So... when's Mercury Bar going to open?

I'm curious how a place can get so far behind in taxes from January 2006 - April 2007 that the actions listed in the article are required.

I have never heard of police tape, etc used for taxes that are 1-2 years late.

Does anyone know of any other situation where a building is wrapped in police tape for this activity?

It may have to do with businesses that have liquor licenses being late in taxes.

Sad news.

Could it have had something to do with their Conspiracy Theory Movie Night series? Hmmmm. Paging Mudflap.

Perhaps it had something to do with that rude waiter that someone complained about a while back.

Susanarosa: You said it. The Mercury Bar has been ready to open "any week now" for several years.

Flap - You may want to contact the news or Freep to add a correction to their article.

They certainly got that 'closure' story up in a hurry didn't they.

There are certain things that journalists take very seriously. One of them is lunch.

Channel 7 is still claiming that it's closed. They should get in the loop.

They shut it down for failure to pay taxes. If they are back open, I'm sure someone rushed right down there with a check that magically materialized.

"Twingo's Euro Cafe, a popular midtown restaurant that reopened last year to rave reviews, was shuttered briefly Tuesday by Michigan treasury agents and state police over tax issues, according to a legal notice posted on the building."
The complete story...

"A man who answered the phone and identified himself as a manager would not give his name, but said the restaurant was back in operation and open for dinner. He declined to say why law enforcement officers swarmed the establishment earlier in the day. 'Maybe they were here for lunch.'"

Thats great, the paranoid manager not sharing any info. Must be that one bartender that told my friend "Nice tits" That guy was a weirdo, sweating and hopped up on something.
Good atmosphere otherwise.
At least its back open unlike Oslo.

I suspect that is Steven. Personally I like the guy and his is entertaining as hell if you are there to drink. He might keep you away but he brings me in.

Hey Vas, so your friend have nice tits? I'm sure she does as the bartender who said that knows his tits.

Everyone, come up to Twingos this Sunday for Conspiracy Theory Brew & View. I promise there won't be any more raids or attacks on your civil liberties :-)

yeah I could see that dude being funny on another night. But then he was flicking us off and when I confronted him on it, he said it was a term of endearment or something. He was sweating and twitching so much I just thought he need another bump.
Her tits aren't particularly special but the entire package is great.
uh-oh, too much information. The point is, everyone go to Twingos.
