there is a big building that fronts Washington Blvd and is bordered by Clifford Street and Grand River Blvd. it is on the west side of the street (opposite side as the Book Caddy)...

it has a roof top swimming pool and tennis court. is this an apartment complex or hotel?

is the building to the right (south) the Book Tower building?

That would be Trolley Plaza. It's an apartment complex.

Sit on the balcony, pop a Stroh's, turn on the radio and watch a ballgame.

This sounds as good as the Detroit Opera House, or the DAC.

Be careful of the leasing consultants, I had one grab me by my hood so that i wouldn't walk on his freshly vacuumed carpet in the apt he was showing me.
