March 9 through March 24 , 2007
Viewing Hours: Thurs. – Sat. 12pm – 6pm

Established in 1997, the Museum of New Art (MONA) has promoted critical dialogue between the public and contemporary works of art, pursuing a distinctive program of exhibitions and projects. MONA, which has been expanding its focus steadily for the last 10 years, represents the core activity of the museum and has showcased some 3,000 works by approximately 800 artists. Installation works, film, photography, painting, and sculpture have engaged the museum's audience over the last decade.

The museum is also launching several other ambitious initiatives. Among them is DETROIT NOW: 12x12, which is much like the project currently operating at the Chicago MCA, and several other museums throughout the country, whereby the museum will showcase a different regional artist every month in a reserved museum gallery. The museum has also revived its ARTcore Project that was initiated downtown three years ago: taking empty, abandoned storefronts and transforming them into artist collective galleries. And last of these is Changing Cities, which will establish a global art exchange, swapping Detroit artists and work with galleries in London, Hamburg and Canada for starts. New York, and Los Angeles to follow: making simple arrangements with these galleries to send Detroit work there, in exchange for their artists here.

Following an open invitation to artists all over the world, the museum is now proud to present Detroit's 10th International Film & Video Festival. To celebrate this tenth anniversary, the museum will hold twenty-five days of non-stop global film screenings. Over that period, MONA will showcase more than 300 of the world's best experimental, documentary, animation, and narrative films.

Detroit's 10th International Film & Video Festival will host one hundred established and emerging filmmakers from twenty countries. The Festival will run from March 9 through March 24.

MONA is located at 7 North Saginaw, Pontiac in the Oakland Arts Building.

Opening night festivities are Friday, March 9 from 6pm until 9pm.
