 We canceled last weeks films due to weather, so nobody missed anything... Tonight we will be showing: "Martial Law: 911 Rise of the Police State" and several conspiracy shorts.  Martial Law: 9/11 Rise of the Police State was filmed primarily during the Republican Party's 2004 national convention in New York City. The Republican Party's choice to hold the event there drew both strong praise and strong criticism. Alex Jones' clear intent was that the people who were truly guilty of planning and carrying out the events of September 11, 2001 were coming back to the scene of the crime. In the film, Jones shows what he believes are signs of a growing police state: constant surveillance, a defined military presence, a militarized civilian police force, mass roundups and arrests of protesters, detention in a makeshift facility laden with asbestos which one interviewee called a "concentration camp", and threats of arrest for constitutionally legal activities. Many different views are presented, including one semi-humorous confrontation with a group of American communists. This video is copyrighted, but Alex Jones has permitted and encouraged the distribution of these videos for non-profit, educational purposes. I am fully aware, but when presented in such a form as to bludgeon the nearly asleep masses, it overwhelms me as I see clearly the trend. It isn't leading to peace, quiet, and freedom...let alone joy and comfort and love...so yeah, I was and am greatly disturbed by it. As much as that Corporation documentary...but UNlike so many who wish to turn their heads and ignore the basic glaring truths that are abundantly around us...I simply cannot turn away. Re: illegal income tax and RFID cards... the loudest voices of protest that I've heard around these are libertarians who are to the right of the right. If I understand the POV of those of you posting on this flick (pretty damn left?) then what I learned about political philosophy is wrong: it is not a linear model that describes us (i.e. left to right) but we're in a circle because the extreme ends join up. Hi MD2. Speaking broadly I think most would lump liberals on the left or center-left (unless you want to split hairs and call out "classic liberals" from regular liberals). The distinctions are probably expressed in terms of the shade of red. My point was that the traditional way of studying our politics is incomplete. You self-identify as liberal-leaning, but your characterization of patriotism sounds like Mark Scott and the libertarians. Again, what's interesting is that it's hard to imagine liberals and libertarians being in the same room and yet your beliefs, if parsed, could put you into either camp. For my sake, tell me: how does the libertarian-shaded statement "you can have my gun when you pry my cold dead fingers off of the trigger" sound. Is this you (how about other liberal-leaning types reading this)? If "no" then I'm thinking that gun-control is one issue that splits you from the libertarians. Maybe there's hope. | ||

Craig, what you need to understand is this: There is no such thing as political classes. They are simply labels that we are given. What truly drives us is our values. Take for instance Alex Jones or Aaron Russon (infowars.com). Mr. Jones is a freedom fighter and I can only imagine that one of his top values is power. He fufills this value by informing people of the new world order and stopping their agenda. On the other hand, take for instance, the current people in office. I'm sure that Cheney and Bush both have power as one of their top values. How ever, they fufill this value by destroying what makes America great. They get power from destruction. Now that you can see how value systems work and influence each and every person to do what they do, do you think that this will make a democrat in office any different? What can be said for Clinton and his NAFTA scam. About the gun control statement, I say "fuck you, you ain't going to get my gun" (thats if I had one. I am not a gun nut, but we need guns to protect ourselves from the establishment.) Back to the topics of value systems. One of my top values is helping people. This is one reason that I am doing these movie nights, I want to inform people and help them step into the light. I want everyone to be illuminated, and not in the psuedo-illuminted fashion that all of the NWO fear mongerers are. These people think that they are the true enlightened ones...when in all reality, it is all of the true patriots that are the enlightened ones... 'flap, I'd like to suggest playing some Hollywood or Independent fictional movie as the opener, around eight o'clock or so...then move into the heavy documentaries at the ten o'clock hour. No need to play loud OVER the diners, and they won't be chased off by the content of some of our more blatant documentaries. I'd love to see a public reaction to a screening of say, Network. Perhaps some discussion of where they were in the late 60s and early 70s when that was written versus where we are now. Another would be 1984 the movie, and others of this ilk. Like we did with V for Vendetta, only earlier...there are a bunch of people that simply cannot make it because we start so late. Hell, I'd even love to play Being There and a few other fun films that contrast idealism with the real world situation...then if and when folks choose to stay they can be educated along with the rest of us! I'm sure there are other good movies, but my noggin isn't firing on all cylinders at the moment...I got my second wind this morning after leaving your establishment and rode my bike around the city for a few hours, couldn't settle a bit until the exhaustion set back in.
