Geez, I make one little business trip and come home to find I've been deposed. The uprising will not stand. The FSC army is still loyal and my parents have arranged for me to marry Susanarosa to endear myself to the masses. (Although I will still keep my mistress, Skulker.) Yes, we're at the Well tonight. Bring your shivs and zip guns. I'm expecting trouble from those rat bastards at Fudge. |

Be careful I hear some of those Fudgers can be indefatigable even when drunken idiots are attacking them with mustard covered hot dogs at Opening Day baseball games. |

My concubine was a no-show on this muggy night, but good to see Toolbox, Eap, Merchantgander, Billybbrew, Matt, Mr. Matt, Mikem, Jams and J_Steinbeck. Next week at the Well. |

Cut the concubine a break. I'm trying to get my room ready (and my tools keep coming up missing) for my antique bed I had to go to TN to pick up. The concubine may be at the next one (hopefully this silly room will be done). |

Bring the bed with you. That'll save me $12.00 for the motel room. |

HA, the bed has no mattress (I have to special order one). Were you planning on just setting it up in the middle of the street? We could be Detroit's latest attraction! It would be a sight to see. What exactly would you call it? Gay white male and straight white female concubine do the funky chicken on an heirloom bed with no mattress?? |

Sounds like you folks need some investment capital...but the idea might just work. I don't think it's been tried outside of Amsterdam. (of course, I don't know that it's been tried THERE either...but IF anywhere, there. I don't think they'd find anyone in Tijuana that would pass the casting vetting process...) You might want to talk to a franchise attorney...mebbe TnDetroiter could front you some advice! |

Who needs investment capital? I have the bved and am obviously concubine to a cute gay white male...we just need a location I've been to Amsterdam and it's probably been done there. We could do the Detroit version. Maybe get a spot on a local cable channel... |

Won't be anything like the live performance. I meant needing a mattress...and possibly a PR firm...and security... You really ARE a good sport, Dteach, what a good choice for a pseudo-concubine you are for Its. |

Well, I am taking donations for this mattress so maybe capital would be a great idea!! It's a weird size for a pre Civil War bed. Since we will probably be striking and I'll be really, really broke, I am expecting ItsJeff to provide me with all that a proper concubine should be receiving. |

No, was thinking more the lines of daily necessities...food, shelter, clothing. I know the sex is out (guess the job description of concubine has changed a bit). ItsJeff, can you just be my pimp daddy instead?? |

I'm curious...not that I even KNOW the dimensions of standard mattresses...but what size is THIS frame that you need to fill?! Does this ancient frame seem to have a weight restriction, too? I'd just HATE to have you special order some dangerously expensive mattress to have your antique break with the first good bounce, concubine OR consentual. |

Actually, it had a mattress on it at one point. It was from TN and the person who had it had a mattress made and it was only about 250 bucks (he gave the mattress away to a lady at church a few years back). I'm not sure of the dimensions yet (it's not put together at this point) but it's shorter than the average mattress and a big wider than a twin. People were much shorter back then. We kids slept on it when we went down south to visit my great aunt. No weight restrictions that I can tell...not that anyone is going to sleep in it. Seems pretty sturdy (at least it did way back when). It's for my spare bedroom. |

Detroitteacher, maybe a feather bed would be a good solution until you can figure out a custom mattress solution? It would mush to the right dimensions... but might need some extra pad underneath it, I guess--futon mattress, then?

Yeah, I know, until concubines organize there will be sorely little time for rest. Solidaridad, Los Concubines! Unite! (not to be confused with Soliitariety, my new word for the day...no WAY to make that one happen in Scrabble, but it looks like it would be worth a few points) |

I was going to volunteer one of my 'spare' futon mattresses...they've been in the garage, though, so I'm not eager to unwrap them just yet. (expecting something nesting) |

Thanks for all the suggestions and offers! Unfortunately, a featherbed wouldn't work...I am allergic to the feathers and it would be a miserable time upstairs. A futon mattress would be too big. I need box springs, also. My aunt suggested one of those hay filled thingys. YEAH RIGHT! I can see my cat ripping it open now or using it for a litterbox!! Not to mention my allergies. I am thinking just a special order mattress and boxed springs. Gramma left me a little money (not much) and it was her idea for ME to have this bed, so I guess I'll take it out of my "inheritance". I'm still taking monetary donations since ItsJeff doesn't feel his concubine needs to live in comfort. BTW, if anyone knows of a decent mattress shop that will special order a size, please let me know. |

What do we get for these "donations"? Hell, even PBS gives you decent programming and a Pink Floyd DVD for your donation, so I'm wondering what we may receive besides a warm fuzzy feeling inside. |

Uhm, a warm fuzzy feeling is all you would get. I'm just a broke teacher who is more than likely going to be forced to strike. If you really want "something" I have a healthy white boy here (he's 20) that I'm willing to part with. |

Detroitteacher, don't be too hasty to part with your son, believe me. I just parted with my healthy, pretty, charming, intelligent 22-year old 3 months ago, him going to CA for work. I can't tell you how much I miss the piles of dirty dishes, overflowing laundry basket, loud music, questionable friends etc. He's coming back soon though (for a visit) and I'm sure after a week I'll feel like parting again (for a little while that is). |

Butterfly...I really do love him and really don't want to part with him. He just grates on my last nerve at times! He's going into the Army soon and I just need trial runs of his being gone...hence the readiness to lease him out (plus he eats like a horse and with us being on strike, Junior will have to start finding a new place to raid the fridge!!) |
