...is at Cliff Bell's Wednesday night (8/9), 9pm start.
This is an excellent band with interesting arrangements and good soloists.
Check 'em out.

Jimg,

I've never had the opportunity to hear Gwinell's band. I try to catch every decent outfit I can. The Bird of Paradise house band and Baker's most recent group (can't remember the leader's name!) are two of my regular favorites. I used to love hearing Jimmy Wilkinson, too. Saw Lionel Hampton with that band, once!

I'll probably show up just a hair before nine. I don't know that we've ever met, but if you care to, I'll be the 5'7" twenty-something white boy with glasses near the bar! If it helps, I have on a yellow T-shirt, jeans and Cons.

Hope to see you there!

Eric_c, sorry didn't catch your post until today (Thurs). Band sounded great but once the Tiger People rushed in we moved to a corner table right near the band. I don't think Stan Kenton could've cut through that noise!

Ha! Just before I left, I thought about the story of Artie Shaw who was performing before a loud audience. He said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, we don't expect complete silence, just enough so that we can hear ourselves play."
