Knowing what you know now, and if you had just arrived here, what advice would you offer?

About a year ago, ItsJeff offered that the forum could benefit from an introductory guide, an FAQ to welcome newcomers who may not be familiar with its cyberculture. We made a start, then time passed and life intervened, but I haven’t forgotten that idea.
It now occurs to me… why not let you, who are so familiar with the forum and the pluses and pitfalls of posting, write it?
Take this any direction you wish, but I suggest it be done in the FAQ form of question and answer form. Create a new FAQ thread or respond to one started.
