Hi All,

Looking for a muffler shop downtown. Prefer something around Mexicantown that will do custom work. Or not. :-) Thanks!

Barnesfoto,

Thanks. That's where I would go, but that location burned down sometime last year. The only other location right now just does tires.

Islandman, did you find a muffler shop? I'm in need of one myself.

I'm going to go with one on Fort Street a little past Mexicantown:

Reliable Muffler & Brakes Inc.
6700 W Fort St
Detroit, MI 48209

(313) 843-0880

I've heard there are a few good ones along this stretch past the bridge. I haven't taken my car in yet. I'll let you know where I end up taking it. Plan on doing it this weekend.

I wanted to recommend that one, although I don't have a car, I pass it every day and they always seem to be busy.

Went to Reliable Muffler this weekend. I would recommend this spot to anyone needing muffler work, even custom work, which I had to have done. The prices are increible for the work they do.

I took my other car to Mr. Muffler last year, and I was charged damn near 3 times more for less work.

Plus, you get to enjoy a day in the sun with some mechanics that I could only call true characters of the southwest side. :-)

Two thumbs up!
