Terryh,

Ober-Fränkisch is my mothers dialect from Upper Franconia, the region of Bavaria north of Nuremburg.

Donau-Schäbisch is my fathers dialect spoken by the (mostly former) Germans living in the lower Danube region at the confluence of the border of Hungary, Rumania and Serbia. It was once home to over 1 million ethic Germans from the time of Maria Theresia (Empress of Austria 1740-80) until WWII.
