I’m 26. Born in Pontiac, grew up in Dearborn, lived in Detroit while going to school, proud WSU alum. Wanderlust got the better of me, moved to the southwest last year.

I lurk more than I post, but I like threads about Detroit history, (especially Wayne State history) old photographs and maps, and current building development.

I'm 18, and will be at Wayne State next year hopefully doing Urban Studies. I think I found the forum through Lowell's "Ruins of Detroit" tour.

I check this site pretty much every day, it's too interesting. I like any topics about the city, especially the HOF Threads.

28.
History B.A. at MSU, library sci. master's at WSU. Born & raised in Flint, now in E. Lansing.

Grandparents, mom's side, lived in Pleasant Ridge for 38 years, briefly Royal Oak & Detroit before that. They lived in the oldest house in PR-- 44 Ridge Rd., built in 1908.

Often when we turned off Woodward to visit them, I'd glimpse part of the Detroit skyline, at the point where it's first visible coming south on Woodward. I wanted to keep going, all the way to downtown! And occasionally we did.

I am 16 years old. I am a junior in high school at Utica Ford. I have been lurking here since 2003. Yes I was in 7th grade! I began posting in november of 2005. I have also been an active poster at urbanplanet since february of 2005. I was quiet a young person to be interested in Detroit and to my parents, it was almost one of my weirder traits. You know, I am a normal kid- good in school, great at sports, awesome friends, and I'm interested in Detroit, being a white suburbanite. I am interested in everything about Detroit.

I hope to go to college hopefully with some sort of baseball scholarship and study Architecture/City Planning. After college, I hope to live in a rental loft or apartment in downtown or Midtown Detroit. Maybe sometime after living in Detroit, I will run for city council. I tend to take a strong interest in politics. Wish me luck!

My favorite thread- Quicken urges others to move, too.

Favorite Developments- Major Quicken Loans Plans, Cadillac Square, Book Cadillac, Greektown Casino, Ellington, Studio One, Pick Fort Shelby, etc.

I am in love with Detroit and everyday I set out to change someones opinions whether it is my parents or my friends or just some random person.

Maybe a sixth channel is in order for memories and nostalgia. If they enjoy talking about that stuff, great, but it really does clutter up Discuss Detroit with threads that aren't interesting or relevant to most forumers.

Just in case you wonder where this thread went, after it goes, it will be moved the Detroit Connections forum tomorrow. Among the purposes of the Connections forum is "For discussion among forum members, discussions about the forum". This thread and its companion "Black members on Detroit Yes roll call!" are discussion about the forum, not Detroit per se, so they belong there.

That said, wisecracks from interlopers aside, I have enjoyed this thread.

Since I never really introduced myself...

23 on the 26th. I was born in Dearborn and grew up in Westland, Livonia, and Redford. I moved to Downtown Detroit's Park Apartments when I was about 18, and currently live here six months out of the year. The other six are spent in Saginaw (Delta College - Business Entrepreneurship). I am currently engaged. We plan on getting married at the Belle Isle conservatory next summer. Both of us currently run our own internet business and plan to move to the city permanently, opening separate brick and mortar locations. We hope to eventually settle down in one of Detroit's historic neighborhoods.

BTW, thanks for all the welcomes I got on the boards.

26 here.
I got interested in Detroit mostly from visiting Detroit to see family, and then from the internet forums showcasing the city.
One of the big moments I remember, was my first trip into Downtown Detroit. It was sadly to go to the Detroit Medical Centre to visit our cousin who was in a car accident. Anyway my parents made a wrong turn and we ended up in Grand Circus Park and also ended up driving along Gratiot Ave near Eastern Market.
Have been hooked on Detroit ever since :-)

After that, my friend and I took a day trip via train to Windsor and then the tunnel bus into Detroit. We met up with this guy named Dan who was trying to save the Hudson's building. We basically only had like two or three hours in the city if that, before we had to get back to Windsor. But we had a blast, and that led to even more trips to visit downtown Detroit.

Actually if Dan is on this site, give me a shout at michaelb_@hotmail.com

Would be nice to touch base with Dan again, as we lost touch somehow.

Who am I to buck a trend?

23 year old here, enjoying life in the Corridor, (or Midtown if you like, but does it really matter so long as it's a great place to live?), Restoring my century old apartment, WSU communications major.

Looking forward to new development, sustainability and walkability in Midtown and would like to be a part of it for a long time to come.

Committed to Detroit even after graduation.

Ahh, i feel better...

26, been posting on here since high school. Graduated from West Bloomfield High in 2000. I was probably one of the first people to discover the bulletin board. I don't even think it was called DetroitYes at the time, just a section of the Fabulous Ruins.

Anyway, as you can see I don't post often (565 posts in just over four years) but I read every day.

Currently, I live downtown in an apartment in Lafayette Park. Moved downtown in 2005 after years of having such an infatuation with the city and finally being able to be independent enough to do so.

First became infatuated with Detroit in 1994 when Mayor Archer took over and promised us a revitalized city.

Yikes. People who graduated from high school in the 21st century can already be 26?! Where did the time go?
