Anybody ever been to Jumbo's? Do you dig it, hate it, or are indifferent to it?

Jumbo's was considered up there with the Willis Show Bar,Anderson's Gardens, and the Roxy Bar when they existed. The Detroit Police vice squad knew of Jumbo's. Although I thought Jumbo's had a respectable reputation until about the late 1960's.

Where was the Roxy Bar? I know where the Willis Show Bar and Anderson's Gardens were.

The Roxy Bar was located on Woodward between Charlotte and Peterboro.

Jumbo's is in a terrible, terrible neighborhood, but I love it too. Remy is an awesome bartender! I often get a good crew at Jumbo's whenever I bartend in Hamtramck on Sunday nights. They're usually already good and hammered.

Whithorn, is the building that housed the Roxy still there? Or has it been razed?

I believe the Roxy bar building is still there. The Roxy Theater building on Woodward a little south of the bar was demolished.

I did some research... and yeah, the building that once contained the Roxy is still there, condo-ized.

Yes, it does. Bricktown Station plays there every other Thursday. As a matter of fact, I posted this thread because they invited us to play there this past Thursday and I had never been in the place. Just wanted to get idea of what the bar was like and couldn't make it down myself before the gig.
