As always, the festival features live music, ethnic food, cultural dancers, carnival rides and games, and activities for children. The Hamtramck Historical Commission also has a number of events planned this year.

Grand opening of Design 99, 10022 Joseph Campau

2 p.m. - Greg Kowalski will do a slide presentation and signing of his new book, “Hamtramck: The World War II Years” at the library, 2360 Caniff. The book includes more than 200 photos of Hamtramck taken during the war years. Most have not been seen in 60 years, and include such memorable scenes as the big bond rally hosted by Abbott and Costello.

2 p.m. - Charlie Hyde will present a lecture and do a book signing at the Hamtramck Public Library, 2360 Caniff. Mr. Hyde is a Wayne State University professor, historian and the recognized authority on the Dodge Brothers and the history of the Chrysler Corp.

1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. - Polka with the Stars dance competition

11 a.m. - Dedication of the Dodge Main state historical marker at Veterans Memorial Park on Joseph Campau south of Holbrook. Keynote address by Charles Hyde, author of the book “The Dodge Brothers.”

1:30 p.m. - Annual Polish Day Parade on Joseph Campau, Holbrook to Caniff. Members of the Dodge Brothers Club, Inc. will participate in their classic cars.
