That sounds good. How are these conservatories, etc run in Detroit? Is it the Parks Department that takes care of it? Just wondering. When I was visiting Buffalo it was interesting to find out that a private non-profit organization is in charge of running 70%(mostly the Olmstead Parks system)of Buffalo's park system. It has allowed the parks to slowly restored and returned to funcioning order, without the city having to spend money they don't have. |

Yes, the Conservatory is especially wonderful on a very cold, but sunny winter day. When the tropical humid air hits your sinuses... it feels so good! And find a sunny spot to sit, take off your coat, and feel the rays of sunshine touch your skin. A sensual treat! There is no better therapeutic way to shake off the winter blahs, than to just relax in the tropical foliage.... ...unless of course you want to risk being riddled with tropical ailments on a Caribbean cruise ship! |

My dad used to take us to all of these places when I was little. The conservatory, the zoo, the casino... The conservatory is a pretty neat place, and yes, very well run and kept up. |

But, of course. Man was I scared of that thing, but it was all worth it on the trip down. Speaking of scared, the aquarium always scared me, too. Something about being surrounded by vast expanses of water on the other side of a thin sheet of glass always left me uneasy. We also used to fly kites (some homemade) on the lawn near the casino, and take our big wheels over the canals... Man, the things we take for granted as kids.
