It's a combo of blue lighting and a slow shutter speed which makes it look more profound than it really was. Having a slow shutter makes it glow more so since more light comes into the camera. |

Yeah im almost positive thats photoshop. Comerica has never had that type of exterior lighting. During the Super Bowl all they did was shine a spotlight on the building. |

Where have I heard that before? Im sure if people can notice the exterior lighting on the Wurlitzer that someone, before this image surfaced, would have noticed or mentioned exterior lighting on Comerica Tower. I think the image was someones attempt to show what the skyline might look like with Comerica lit up. |

A more realistic shot is on the opening page of http://www.detroitblog.org Is that photo real? I know it was taken from the top of the Book Tower. I guess what I was really wondering is whether or not the Penobscot has ever been lit up red, white, and blue, like in that photo. |

The photo in the first post shows a more gap-toothed Detroit skyline than I remember. It seems like there are only 5 or 6 tall buildings there now, aside from the Ren Cen complex. |

The Penob was lit in Red White and Blue most of the summer. I have some pics of it. http://img.photobucket.com/alb ums/v378/goatrider357/Detroit_ 3June06_069.jpg |

They could do something a lot more interesting with the Comerica Tower lighting. The obvious option to me would be to put a spotlight in between each of the pointed "turrets" along the roofline, lighting up each of the 36 turrets. That would create a dramatic zig-zag in the skyline. Anyone care to photoshop that? |

i'd be willing to try - explain that again though. i'm not sure i understand; light up the backside of each turret? i'll be giving my idea another stab tonight, with more of a light-blue-whitish tint... |

tim, you got it right the first time. I think in reality though, part of the blue light would somewhat illuminate the front facade of the peaks as well. On a related note, I LOVE the Christmas colors the P-nob is sporting this season! |

I guess crenellation or battlement is the term I'm looking for these points. Anyway, I was thinking you'd light up the left and right side of each point. You couldn't easily light up the front of each point without having the light itself getting in the way. And lighting from the back seems like it would not have much effect, since you can't see the back... although I guess you might get a slight silhouette effect. Or, a different, simpler approach might be just a tiny point of light on top of each point. |
