Anyone have any suggestions? I've lived in Detroit my whole life but I finally am working downtown and feel like a tourist when I'm trying to come up with lunch ideas!

Detroit Beer Company, right accross Broadway. Small Plates is right next to it, if you want something unusual. There is a tiny restraunt near Spectacles on E Grand River that has some dammed good muslim/mediteranian food.

The restaurant Dplanner is talking about is called Harmonie Way.
Cheli's is not too far and has excellent nachos.
You are also close to Vicentes.
Then there's always Monroe with its Thai restaurants and chain sandwich places. Then Greektown which I would recommend Cyprus Taverna...they have awesome lunch special for very cheap.

For a list of the 100 Downtown bars and restaurants check out www.insidedetroit.org/100.html
It doesn't have all the jimmy johns and such but its got everything else.

Thanks! I already knew about the Beer Co, Small Plates and Chelli's. The others are all new. It's those little gems I'm looking for. I'm trying to expand my co-workers palates.

I have never noticed Harmonie Way, could someone please give a more detail description of their location?

Is it near Puppet Art?

Harmonie Way in on the south side of Grand River, between Broadway and Centre Street. I'm told they have great stuff (though I don't eat mediterrean food).

Also, my coworkers love Mike's (thats what they call it), the small restaraunt on the first floor of the Milner Hotel (John R. and Centre Street). I'm told its a terrific greasy spoon.

The Middle Eastern food at Harmonie Way is good and reasonably priced. I like their hummus. They have 3 or 4 small tables. Pretty cramped, though.

Harmonie Ways' chicken shwarma is very good. $6.50 for chicken, rice garlic butter, hummus, salad and pita. At Mikes place, if he cannot deep fry it, well you get the idea. Although when Mike puts out the grill for games, his sausages are really good but a bit pricey.

Heh. I just had one of those sausages last Sunday. I picked up a menu but I wasn't too impressed. Harmonie Way sounds like a good deal.

I'm not too interested in going back to Oslo after the awful service I experienced there once for a 8-10 person party. We weren't served for over an hour and then, only I was served and had to look at my food, politely waiting for the others to arrive. The sushi was delicious but not rude-service-and-a-two-hour-wa it-delicious.
