if you want a river view, the Mariott hotels, Courtyard or the Reinassance branches,at least I guess. Does it have to be necessarily in Detroit????? |

Except for the price part, I think that ITSJEFF has the winner, the OmniHotel in Riverplace. Stunning vistas of the waterfront with the river at the front door of the hotel. |

For a view (I don't know about price, quality and other offers), why not stay over in WIndsor and LOOK at the Detroit skyline, as opposed to looking FROM the Detroit skyline??? Okay, so I'm cheating the rules up a bit by invoking Windsor into this but I've often said the best view of Detroit is from our neighbors to the south in Ontario. |

Thats true people say the best view of detroit is either in an helicopter or in Windsor |

Agree with Detroitej72; My family often goes to the Windsor Hilton for a weekend getaway mostly for the view of Detroit. (Message edited by polaar on November 05, 2006) |

The Omni Hotel is by far the best hotel I ever stayed at in Detroit. Not within walking distance of downtown, but they have a shuttle that will take you anywhere. It is literally right on the river and in a nice neighborhood off the beaten path. About $100 per night, so not cheap cheap, but rather reasonable. It is a smaller hotel (about four floors) but with old school architecture character. It has like a workout room and what not--the necessary amenities... |

APbest--is the Milner a good place (albeit without riverfront view)? I've always gotten a semi-creepy vibe from outside on the street, but I've never been inside. |

idk, I've never stayed there since I live in Detroit, but it looks like it has a classic character and it is in a nice neighborhood |

itsjeff is right. The OMNI meets all criteria. I had business partners come into town and stay there. All were pleased. |

The Marriot Courtyard has some good views, nice amenities and has easy access to both the Ren Cen and people mover. |

Unless they've remodeled in the past few years, the Milner looks creepy to me. When I've gone in the lobby It has appeared to be more like a rundown residential hotel than someplace you would want to stay for a weekend. The location is great, I just wish they would remodel. dave |

They did remodel the Milner last year. In fact, they always seem to be working on it nowadays. I thought it was creepy, too, but I know a girl from Lansing who stayed their this month and she said it was fine - just like any other moderate priced hotel. |

No river view, but the Atheneum is great. Beautiful suites and excellent location with attachment to the International Center. |

Corktown Inn. 1970s old Holiday Inn with classic Detroit security fencing which works with your room key. You really get locked in, Detroit style. Good Corktown location. You can walk to Briggs Stadium to see Kirk Gibson belt one. Sharing a floor with chronically homeless or mentally ill adds to the character of the place. Sasha and Chester own it and live there. jjaba, tourist. |
