Does anyone in this vast forum know of any local butcher shops that still make their own lunch meats and other homemade ethnic dishes?

Gratiot Central Market? I don't eat meat so I don't know for sure but I was in there recently and it looked like they had a lot of stuff.

If Halal is OK, there's a few of those places, one in Hamtramck, I think.

Honey Bee Market, (newly expanded) Bagley @ 17th.
Deli counter has breakfast burritos, taco and burrito lunches, and sometimes Menudo.
They make their own chorizo and on weekends, you can get a barbecued cow head.
Srodek Deli on Conant sells Kowalski stuff, but also sells homemade peirogi (sp?) and soups.

What about the Mack and Sheridan Meat Market.

Also the Sunnyside Deli or Bakery on McNichols and Davison.

Ther was Don's on 7 Mile and Hayes, but their close unfortunately.

Dont forget about the Piquette Market, or the Eastside and westside big chop houses, Carl's and Green's

Long time reader, first post.

Stan's Polish Grocery and Kopytko Market, both on Joseph Campau, make Polish meats and food. Kopytko started serving awesome hot carry-out meals not long ago ($5.99 +tax). I also buy Kowalski lunch meat and Russian pierogi at Srodek's on Conant, though their Joseph Campau store has a wider selection. Haven't tried it, but I heard that Mesnica Market on Caniff makes the most authentic chevapi.
