Nope, people will still drive the speed they always drive. According to government studies, Speed limits have very little effect on the speeds people actually drive. This will just allow those few people who actually drive the limit to keep up with the majority who don't.

I think some of the 55 mph freeways need to go up to 65mph, except the Lodge, that speed limit should be 60mph instead of 55 cuz 55 is just too slow, and many people are going 65-70mph on the lodge

If you drive a Dodge Ram you can now go 100 instead of 89 mph.

Definitely not true. While some autobahns have no speed limit, the rest of the country has strict speed limits and hefty fines.

This is terrible news. Now it will be even more dangerous to ride my bike on I-696. M-DOT should create dedicated bicycle lanes on expressways.

You'd pick up 5 mph by dropping the empty Rolling Rock basket of the back.

You're actually environmentally sound enough to return empties??

Or is that just so you can get the extra coupla bucks to buy more chewing tobacco?

This may be a little late, but I also saw where the speed limit on M59 was raised to 70 right out of Utica there (it used to be 55 and the 65 at Dequindre).

Was it really? I've been so close to getting a ticket there...I've been clocked several times. The UPD is right there.

^ I drive that way alot for work and notice somebody hiding out at or @ that gas station on the SE corner of utica / m-59 almost everytime through...I started paying attention after stupidly getting a ticket for blowing through there last winter. the cop didn't show, but after listening to the other cases & chatting with the people outside smoking - we all realized that we were either there for fighting tickets that came from being stopped in that area(during all times of day. by the by.) or knew someone who had gotten ticketed there in the past...
Soooo, hopefully, now you know too :-)

I-75 between Pennsylvania Rd and the Detroit city limits had the speed limit raised from 65 to 70 a few months ago. Ironically people driver faster through the city where the speed limit is only 55...

This is good news now my tickets wont be so expensive. I think they should just make a speed limit for the slow lanes and a seperate limit for the fast lanes. That would be cool make it illegal to do less than 80 in the fast lane, because I especially despise those who drive like 60 in the fast lane. Especially if they ride the same speed as cars in the slow lane or trucks and im stuck behind them FOREVER. I often wish my car had a death ray on the hood to zap them out the way but then I realize that thing like that are only available in video games or movies...<sigh>
