Cool. Try to find one for Ollie Fretter.

How about Federal's Department Stores with Steven West telling us how Federal's is doing something about the price of food.

Will be anxiously awaiting more posts!

I'm in love with the woman from the Towne Club Commercial. I wonder how she's held up over the years?

I don't have it, but an all time fave is for the Detroit Zoo. The commercial with all the animals running around "backstage" getting ready for the show. Hilarious and brilliant.

I love the truck pull commercial where they say tickets are available at "Ticket Master" and "Triple A".

A much simpler and much more naive time.

You gotta love the comercial for Englander with the woman smoking a cigarette.

A small detail, but one SO 70's!

My father says he remembers being able to smoke his pipe at Wayne State in class in the 70's.

I read an ad from Reader's Diegest from the early 60's that said smoking was good for the bodies' immune systeam!

Isn't that Paul Winchell doing the voice of the Burger Chef? That guy had a fantastic voice.

I use to love BC burgers. Many a time I can remember doing that Count Fangburgers strut myself after I had one of their hamburgers.

I made sure that a lot of these commercials that I did put up were viewed local and distributed locally. I apologize though if national that was viewed local wasnt what you were looking for.

No need to apologize, Dtown. There are tons of national commercials out there, but the local stuff is very rare.

Ok, this isn't an old ad and it isn't local but I didn't want to start a new thread for one SHRIEK!!!.

The new Macy's campaign is REALLY sticking in my craw. How do they expect to win favor with the metro audience by bastardizing the lyric of Martha and the Vandella's great hit "Dancing in the Streets" changing the line "can't forget the Motor City" to "can't forget the west coast"?? http://www1.macys.com/catalog/ syndicated/remote/remotesyndic ation.ognc?Brand=PRESSRELEASE.

I guess Macy's CAN forget the Motor City so I guess that I, personally can forget Macy's...

But does anyone know the unintelligible second half of the second line:

"Stay on the right track to Nine Mile and Mack.
Roy O'Brien's Trucks and Cars ___________ ?"

This has bothered me for 45 years now, and DetroitYES is my only hope for peace before I die.

This was usually heard on the radio, but now I recall that there was a very sixties-looking animated TV version, too, but with the same scratchy jingle recording.

Stay on the right track
To Nine Mile and Mack
Roy O'Brien trucks and cars
Make your money back.

Roy O'Brien's got them buyin'
And buyin'
They come from many miles away.
You'll save yourself a lot of dollars, and dollars
By driving out his way today.

Stay on the right track
To Nine Mile and Mack
To get the best deal in town.
'Cause Roy O'Brien's
Got the best deal around.

Scroll down to the sixth paragraph and click on "Roy O'Brien" to hear the original jingle as sung by The Gaylords.

Well at least after nearly half a century Roy O'Brien is still at 9 Mile and Mack... how many old dealers are still in their original locations? Most have hightailed it to the outer burbs...

The stretch of 9 Mile Rd. in St. Clair Shores has really been turning into an Automotive Alley in recent years. Roy O'Brien Ford now has 2 new neighbors down the street. Don Gooley Cadillac and a brand new Mercedes dealership.

The Detroit Historical Museum has a room on the second floor that has a wall of TVs where you can play a series of the old local commercials. The Detroit Zoo commericial, "My lines, my lines..." and the "That's why we make Faygo" commercial is there too.

BTW, the boat in the Faygo commercial looks like a Bob-Lo boat but it isn't.

Although the sing-along "Remember when you were a kid/That's why we make Faygo" commercial is duly beloved, I wish I could find one of the series with Harold (The Great Gildersleeve) Peary behind the counter, reciting all the Faygo flavors.

The worst radio commercial of all time has to be the Rock Financial crap that runs non stop.
"It time to live, YEA!!!"
That singer sounds like the same one who used to do a lot of commercials in the 1980's. Does anyone know who it is?

Psip,

Thanks for the memories. I will have something to discuss with Hornwrecker Saturday night. He showed me the Van Patrick Goebel ads the other evening...great stuff.

Just watched the Stroh's ad with Aldo Ray! Wow, never knew he had to make beer ads. I remember him playing Andy Hookins in the film adaptation of Leon Uris' Battle Cry.

Ah yes, the ad from the boys in the desert...

All of these werecheezy Ads! LMAO.
