Whats up with the delay of reopening city airport. They were suppose to open this summer but the FAA grounded then because the lack of runway space. However, I hope the company who came up with a deal with city airport doesnt back out because of the delay. I sure would like to see traffic bustling through that airport. It wouldbe like a Midway Airport in Chicago.

Also, on the city website, the airport's name is Coleman A. Young Municipal Airport and the sign on Gratiot ave. states Coleman A. Young International Airport. Could someone please elaborate these interesting questions.

It is not an international airport. An international airport must have customs and immigration officers. as it stands they cannot even keep the terminal open.

FWIW, the airport is open, its the scheduled passenger service that has had problems. they only expected 4 planes a day hardly enough to keep it bustling. But it is a step in the right direction. The problem is that the carrier was using aircraft far too large to land on the relatively short landing strip. If the carrier had smaller planes, they would be able to land them.

If that was the case, then why did Southwest airlines fly their planes in and out of their airports. Also, where are the domestic flights at if the airport is open. I didn't mean open as in private flights and airport training. However, it is used for private issues though. Alos, if that's the case, destination one can take their business elsewhere such as Metro Airport. Also, the city either must be trying to perpare immgration offices or someone screwed up putting on the signs.

Midway's longest runway is only about 500 feet longer than Detroit City's. Although perhaps that 500 feet is right around the threshold.

And Midway is a bit tight. Holy jeez they have that thing packed in there.

Well City Airport does have plenty of barriel grounds to build on, although that would be disrespectful to the dead. Also, their already built over the Getsemane cemetary so their already on haunted barriel grounds.
