Anybody ever have the Rainbow Better Maid chips? They are bags of the dark chips. They're fantastic. That store only sells them occasionally, apparently when they have enough of the right kind of potato. It might have to do with sugar content of the spud. Anyhow, mmm Rainbows... |

Rainbow Chips are only available during the winter months when the cold potato bins bring out the natural sugars of the potato, making the chip brown in color. Like Hardhat said, only available in the factory store on Gratiot. |

Anyone remember when you could buy Better Made chips by the box? Do they still sell them at the store this way? I love the rainbow chips!!! Detroitej72 |

Nope, but they sell them in a platic bucket, a throwback to when they used to sell chips in a tin container. |

I never knew they sold "rainbow chips"! How did they get that name anyway? It was always a pleasure to rifle thru a bag of Better Mades just for the dark chips. I missed the free chip day but I think I'll pay a visit to the store next month. Do they do factory tours there? |

No more factory tours. When they modernized the factory a few years ago the aisles were narrowed to accomodate the new automated chip machines, making tours impossible. |
