What can forumers tell me about Atanis Ilitch? I'm interested in things like how old he is and if he has a political affiliation. There doesn't seem to be much info about him online. | ||

one common misake is the spelling of his name...it's Atanas not Atanis or Atonis. Also, he is notable for being the only Ilitch involved with the 1987 gem, "Slumber Party Massacre II: The Driller Killer". | ||

He also played a security guard in the movie "A Private Matter" with Sissy Spacek. Him and Michael Ilitch co-produced a low budget film called Judicial Consent as well. | ||

He is now head of Olympia Development. Legend has it he has a real interest in saving his family’s historic properties. I hope this is the case. | ||

I remember him coming out with an album in the late 80's or very early 90's. The album was called "Atanas" (or however you spell it), and it wasn't that good. I don't know if anyone played it on the radio. I think 'HYT "might" have, but I can't be sure. | ||

A friend who works at MotorCity Casino said that Atanas is now working for his mothers Casino... but was short on specifics. That doesn't make any sense to me, unless there was more sibling warfare! Maybe he's just consulting for the casino... helping to make it more "hip" (the new architectural designs?). But I would hope he stays focused on the redevelopment of the Ilitch owned historic properties. | ||

It appears that many of the campaign donations to individual Republican law makers may be related to gambling. I recognize some of the GOP folks on that list as being part of the folks in the federal government that make decisions on the expansion of gambling (can't recall the exact committee name right now). | ||

I don't know... would Jethro Bodine have come up with the highly successful Tiger Train? And wasn't Atanas one of the "youngin's" who convinced Ma 'n Pa to move the corporation downtown? Granted his music career was somewhat on the naiive side, but he's our best hope to get the Ilitch's to develop their property. I think most on this forum are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, regardless of his acedemic prowess... | ||

Atanas was the band and record from the late 80's early 90's. Couldn't buy a hit. Just a few billboards around town "Atanas is coming..." Soupcan Music was a recent hobby. A record label and recording studio in Oak Park I think. The whole package is currently fo' sale. Anyone wnat a couple of thousand Atanas CD's ? | ||
