Remember AALIYAH! Today is the 5th Anniversary of The Death of The Detroit Legend Aaliyah! Aaliyah was street but sweet, classy but sassy. Aaliyah was a true talent who did not try to be anyone but herself. The main thing I truly miss about Aaliyah is she was only in competition with herself. Aaliyah was always trying to outdo herself. Aaliyah's music did not sound like anyone else. Her style was amazing. Her hair was always together and she was one of the sexiest women I knew. As we remember Aaliyah remember her for her talent, for her sweet spirit, for her smile and how her music made you feel. Think back to the first time you heard Are You That Somebody and you heard that baby crying in the back ground, Or the first time you heard Try Again and you did not know if you were hearing static on the radio. Or what about the time you heard the R&B Classic One in A Million. Think back to how her music made you feel and you will remember Aaliyah, the real Aaliyah. The One Who Started It All! The Angel, The Princess The Legend. Aaliyah we miss you! RIP to Babygirl! She is truly missed by all! Here are some videos by Aaliyah to jam to: Aaliyah-At Your Best (Gosh I love this song) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =oDJQC3sXWa8 Aaliyah-Age Ain't Nothin But A Number http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =2WQc...related&search= Aaliyah-4 Page Letter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =bLeI9vGTpeM Aaliyah-If Your Girl Only Knew http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =C6iv...related&search= Aaliyah-Rock The Boat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =CPi2...related&search= Aaliyah-One In A Million http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =8zWU...related&search= Aaliyah-Hot Like Fire http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =DC3Z-sTYv7s DMX & Aaliyah-Come Back In One Piece http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =F0vxGUt-p00 Aaliyah-Try Again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =5u1iH1-gaU8 Aaliyah-Back and Forth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =zLqzyLTp7L0 (Message edited by AHolloway on August 25, 2006) |

Maybe if she hadn't been so stylish, her airplane wouldn't have been overloaded with her luggage, and she (and the crew) would still be alive today.... I did like her in that campy vampire flick "Queen of the Damned". (Message edited by Gistok on August 25, 2006) |

She was from Detroit? No wonder "Try Again" was the one R&B song that I was actually into. |

Gistok, I can't imagine why you would make a statement like that. I wonder if she had been your girlfriend, sister or relative, and then you had to read that remark. Please look in your heart and realize that was cruel. Thanks for listening. Jane |

Too bad they refused to leave any of it behind... they would still be alive today.... (Message edited by Gistok on August 25, 2006) |

Ella Fitzgerald, legend. Aretha Franklin, legend. Sarah Vaughn, legend. Lena Horn, legend. ......... Aaliya(sp) not a legend. Btw natural sister I do hope you are not justifying a fifteen year old girl getting married even if you do know(what is the relevance?) the family atty. |

Thank you, Citylover! Aaliyah's music is the epitome of mediocrity in music. Nothing "legendary" as far as I could tell. Speaks volumes about the people that are actually embracing her music. After all, her last album was at number 25 when it was released. The album only went to number one following her death. She was about to fall off of the radar screen like the rest of her ilk: Ashanti, Beyonce, etc. Her music and her "legend" is long forgotten because it was worthless and had no redeeming qualities/values. Furthermore, she sucked out loud as an actress. It pained me to see her struggle to act in Romeo Must Die. I am not hating. I am just 'keeping it real' and not willing to lie for the sake of not "speaking ill of the dead." (Message edited by Shave on August 26, 2006) |
