Answer each question in order it was given. Answer all questions. First one with complete list of answers, wins.
jjaba is author and final judge of contest and The Rock is his Griswold Street lawyer for disputes.

1. Who hit the longest tape measured home run in MLB history and where?

2. Which Heavyweight fighter reigned the longest in recorded history? How long?

3. Name the 3 oldest currently operating MLB parks. What are their opening dates?

4. Compare Fenway Park with Briggs Stadium opening dates. (Hint, same date as sinking of Titanic.)

5. Today, who has more saves this season, Bobby Jenks of White Sox of our Tigers Todd Jones?

Good luck and thanks for playing.
jjaba.

1. The longest tape measured homerun is up for dispute. Among those listed as having the longest homeruns in baseball as measured by the tape are Mickey Mantle and Cecil Fielder, with most of their longest happening at Tiger Stadium (God rest her soul).

2. Joe Louis - June 22, 1937 vs. James J Braddock to Mar 1, 1949. Just shy of 12 years

3. Fenway Park - April 20, 1912; Wrigley Field (originally opened as Weeghman Park) - April 23, 1914; Yankee Stadium - April 18, 1923

4. Fenway - April 20, 1912 & Tiger Stadium (as Navin Field) April 20, 1912

5. Bobby Jenks - 34 saves as of 8/17/06 against the ChiSox. Todd Jones - 34 saves as of 8/17/06 against the Rangers.

Harthat declared winner of jjaba trivia. Very good.

The Mantle Homer was measured at 634 feet from Briggs Stadium homeplate.

There other great answers but jjaba gives it to the first one with the correct answers. Hardhat, Joe Louis was champ for 11 yrs., 252 days, but jjaba gives it to you.

Post your email address here and jjaba will write to you.

jjaba, Trivia meister. Thanks for playing.

I had the pleasure of watching Joe Adcock play first base for the Milwaukee Braves. He probably doesn't have the longest homers ever but did have some record blasts at some now defunct ball parks, especially in NYC (Polo Grounds & Ebbets Field).

Consider this daily lineup for a few years during the 1950s: Ed Matthews (twice home run champ and MLB walk leader for a few years), Hank Aaron (a neighbor four blocks away when I was a kid, BTW) batting cleanup, and Joe Adcock (who used to platoon with Ted Klu at Cincy before being traded to Milwaukee).

Livernoisyard tells it like it was. Too bad Milwaukee Braves were traded to Atlanta. Imagine Detroiters hearing that "America's Team" bullschitt all the time.

Your Brewers haven't really done much over the yrs., eh.

I believe it was Eddie Mathhews who appeared on the FIRST cover of Sports Illustrated many moons ago. Can someone confirm this? Livernois to the rescue(?)

The Wiki says that Eddie Matthews was on the first SI cover. But I knew that... He and my father lived in the same burb and did some drinking together. Matthews lost several productive years due to his alcoholism and errant driving--like crashing into the Lelani Bar in Brookfield across the street from my high school.

He could hit the highest popups in baseball. They were so high that literally anybody on the field could have caught the same one if it were near short center field, including the catcher. He also had the knack of leading the major leagues in walks. So he got on base and scored when either Aaron doubled or Adcock homered him home. Aaron was more of a doubles hitter, being the weakest of the 3-4-5 batters on the Milwaukee Braves back during the 1950s. And Adcock had a career 994 fielding average--one of the highest ever.

Don't forget that Eddie Mathews (correct spelling) played his last season with the World Champion 1968 Detroit Tigers.

Didn't Mathews go on to manage the Braves for a couple of seasons?

Matthews was the manager at Atlanta when Aaron got the HR record. He also played with the Tigers.

Remember Billy Bruton--another Tiger CF? He hit a game-winning HR in the season opener for Milwaukee his rookie season, played all but one game of that 1953 season, and wound up with a season total of one HR that year. Not the prototypical slugging outfielder.
