"Orlando has never been a strategic military target, and yet the folks there are furious," the magazine said.

The magazine looked at the percentage of men with high blood pressure, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and FBI rates for aggravated assaults, as well as workplace deaths from assaults and other violence.

Those numbers were compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Traffic congestion data were also a factor.

I think nutrition and employment rates and standard of living has more to do with this than being 'angry'

This is garbage. How many times do you hear about all the nice and friendly people of Nashville? Are you kidding? This is BS.

I agree with this study. Not totally based on the city and it's people as much as based on this entire site. It seems I have experienced a lot of verbal hostility and rude comments while posting on various threads on detroitYes! My conclusion is two-fold. One, many of the people on this site are not from Detroit, secondly, many of the people on this site do not know how to think, speak or write intellectually. Also they have no respect for others opinions and because this forum is anonomyous they think it is ok to just insult other people with no regard for how stupid they may sound. I would also bet that many of the angry people on this site suffer from what psychologist have now classified and diagnosed as Road Rage Syndrome. Don't worry the drug companies will soon have a drug for this condition and you will be cured! Or at least numbed!

High blood pressure in Detroit is directly related to the number of Coney Island restaurants, not anger.

I agree with this study.

Well duh!

Mani, no one is faulting you for having an opinion. You're being derided because everything you post is mean-spirited or negative.

Also, the forum isn't as anonymous as you may think. Lots of us know each other through the FSC or other activities.

Well, I already discovered that many of you know each other based on responses that I have followed, and when you don't like someone's opinion, a few generally team up. Again, as I stated above, this is my position.

The Orlando locals have been known to refer to the place as "DismalWorld". Gee, you'd think they want to go back to being a crossroads in the middle of the orange groves. As they say, "If it's tourist season why can't we shoot them?"

what I'm angry about is wondering how much tax money was spend on this study...I have a few "studys" I'd like to conduct, where can I apply for a study grant?, then I could hire some people that don't have a job to help me with these kind of bullshit studys.

Mani, I know by your tone that you are not a bad person at all (compared to some of the real grouches on this forum). But sometimes you will innocently post something that will ruffle some feathers, even though you have no malice intended.

The fat comment on the IKEA thread was a case in point. You ruffled a few feathers there. Not a good way to start as a noobie around here.

And when you tell folks on the Ghosts in Detroit thread that ghosts don't exist, you make folks sound stupid... that's why you got Quinn upset with you.

I know you mean no malice towards anyone. It's kinda like EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND.... his mother Marie drives people on the show crazy with her innocent comments... (telling Debra... "Cookies in a log package? ... Well that's almost baking, isn't it?").

So it isn't you per se.... it's just your rather innocent delivery comes across as slightly sarcastic in a sort of naiive way... and that'll drive folks crazy here.

But based on the general mood of this forum, I can agree with your assessment about Detroit being angry. Maybe we have a lot of folks on this forum who should be on blood pressure medicine, (or get a stronger dose).

And some folks just come online after a bad day. I know I've posted a few times being angry, but have appologized for it later.

So think before you post.... and don't let the grouchy people drive you away! :-)

Jack White said detroit was negative, tranlation: angry.

So he moved from the 3rd angriest to the 5th!
Boy that was a stroke of genius.

i was listening to dominski and doyle on the way home, as this issue was being discussed. one caller mentioned traffic signals as a contributor to anger. i feel this anger quite often. there are main thoroughfares where the lights are not timed - and in fact, the caller mentioned jefferson as being among the worst. sometimes woodward is timed nicely - and then the traffic czar randomly decides to eff it up, and the lights are totally without coordination. in oakland county, millions have been spent on a system to link traffic signals and coordinate traffic, but i don't see the return on investment. and one thing that really bugs me is being stopped at an intersection, while there's no cross traffic. sometimes, i see traffic stopped in three or four directions, and nobody's moving - because of permutations involving red lights and left turn arrows and blinking yellows that thrill traffic engineers, but give drivers migraines. it is at these times that i write firey letters (in my head) to government officials detailing the poor fuel economy, increased rate of accidents, wear and tear on vehicles, and pollution that results from uncoordinated traffic. then, i think of all the folks who own gas stations, bump shops, brake repair places, and car dealerships - and their campaign contributions - and i save myself the thirty-nine cents for the stamp (not that the government could really do anything effective, even if it tried...)

SERENITY NOW!!!

Gistok...I see your point. I am a literal and direct person. I think sometimes with internet communication it is often hard to know the real tone of a person who is commenting or expressing opinions. Though, I have to say I have not been angry in my post, sometimes annoyed, especially when it comes to vandilizing in the city, but I try to be open to debate. Thanks!

I was listening to D&D (97.1) on the way home yesterday, too, and agree about the traffic lights, especially when I leave the house at 05:20a and there's NOBODY on the road. Another thing that REALLY gets me is when folks think that right-turn-on-red gives them the right of way over someone with a green light. Can't say how many times I've gotten the left turn arrow but had to jump out of the way of someone turning right.

Also, the government DOES give out grants to help cities improve their traffic light timing and other Transportation Management Improvements. Not all grants go to fund stupid studies like this one.

Earthlink is making me very angry!!!!! People who I have been emailing for years are being put into the blocked sender/suspect email on webmail. I contacted Earthlink and was told they are having a problem and they are working on it, anyone else using Earthlink and having the same thing happen? It's pissing me off. Making matters worse for me is that I have to hear the one word in the english language that makes me want to punch someone, every six years I get very, very angry...gubernatorial!!! AAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
