Just saw the trailer for crossover http://www.imdb.com/title/tt04 73024/ Doesn't look like a great movie but the MCS is featured prominently in the trailer and in the movie. Check out the trailer when you get a chance. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt04 73024/trailers-screenplay-X328 08-10-2 |

i'd bet they actually played in a sound stage made up to look slightly like MCS, with a few on-location exterior shots. unfortunately, this movie is supposed to take place in LA. and most of america (if they watch this movie) will believe that beautiful building is either in LA or made up entirely. |

'A naturally talented basketball player, Noah Cruise is determined to become a doctor using his basketball scholarship to UCLA pre-med, rather than succumb to the lure of former sports agent Vaughn and go for the NBA. His best friend, the buddy that took the fall for him and did the time for an assault charge, Tech, also an outstanding basketball player, has less lofty ambitions: he wants to get his GED and win an underground street ball game against his arrogant rival, Jewelz. Their lives change drastically when they both fall in love with two local girls, Vanessa Lilly and Eboni Jackson, and take fateful trip out to L.A. together.' i could be wrong. maybe they start off in Detroit, then go to LA. but by the sound of it, the meat of the story takes place in LA, but the trailer seems to focus on the MCS. hell, 'the island' used the michigan theater, but it took place in LA (or so i've read, i haven't seen it) maybe they're getting jealous? |

Saw the preview on TV. Wayne Brady? Can anyone buy him as a hard ass? I think not. Other than that, it's good to see the CofD featured in a movie. Does Kwame get a dollar off each ticket sold? |

From the looks of it, the writer/director, Preston A. Witmore is from Detroit, So maybe he has enough pull in Hollywood to make the film in Detroit. So far all the sighs point to the movie being filmed in Detroit. 313 |

Another true romance or what? Starts in the D then heads to LA. Funny that people didnt catch on to the filming when it was happening. |

Here is a post from IMDB, according the post it was mostly shot in Detroit
quote:Well here it is end of April and we are starting to see trailers. I worked on this HD feature too. They had a couple 'ringers' in there shooting some dream sequence like stuff and difficult shots in the train station but Anthony and they others did alot of there own stuff. We were inside and outside the Station for about 2 weeks. They used it cause as you will see when it comes out - its streetball and the guy that runs the place (Wayne Brady) is a roller and wanted to have 'his' place wild and unusual. As for the Mall - they wanted to find a nice cozy place where they could bring in the EQ trucks, 'prop' stores, the food court and hair shops w/o having to pay big bucks...and have a place for the crew to eat, and easily set up for the week we were there. We shot in some private homes near Grand River Ave, on a bus, around the airport (DTW), a closed hospital in Detroit, down on 7 mile, over by U of Detroit - Mercy, St. Cecilia's on Burlingame and around that neighborhood, Club Elysium, Around Greektown, Seldom Blue and up in the Marriott, on Jos Campeau near Evan Rec Center. They shot one day in L.A. at UCLA - other than that it was all Detroit with a majority Detroit crew. They spent there money buying food to feed the crew locally. They spent on hotels for Talent and out of town crew They spent money in our downtown and area restaurants They spent $$ on clothing, props and equipment here in MI That's what its all about - Film Michigan, keep our crews working!

thanks sj... i'm impressed, and glad to hear that i was wrong. it would be nice to see more films made around here, though, especially if they try to buy locally as this one did. despite the fact that it does not particularly interest me at all, i may go see it just to support them for shooting here. or maybe at least rent the dvd... |

Great to see another movie filmed here. Hopefully its a positive film, it seems that many that are shot here always have the stereotypical Detroit theme about crime and decay. Still I guess we can't be too picky, and the money spent locally is most welcome. |

Yeah, and just think - if it wasn't for State Senator Nancy Cassis, we'd be seeing a lot more projects like that. *cough, cough* Spider-Man 3 |

I was in a couple of the MCS scenes--if you watch the trailer, about midway through, I'm the white guy sitting behind Wayne Brady. Wayne was cool, very funny. Eva Pigford (sitting 1 or 2 seats next to Wayne) was foul-mouthed, demanding, and loud. Anyway, it's not the kind of movie I'd normally go out to see, but I'll probably check it out out of curiosity. |

Looks like a movie I'll probably show my students. Not sure, though, until I see it and see how I can tie it to the curriculum. |
