I'm sure some of you have seen this pile of parking meters a little off Vernor near the train station. I was wondering if Vernor had at one time meter parking and here they now lay forgotten and uprooted.

Looks like malicious destruction of municipal property.

What we have... is a failure... to communicate.

I used to have some of the old parking meters that I bought at a Cobo Hall garage sale, but it must have got left behind on a prior move.

I was just driving thru the Grosse Pointes on my way home to SCS today. And I noticed that in the Grosse Pointes all parking on the main business streets (Kercheval and Mack) has metered parking.

And in SCS there are NO parking meters at all (that I could find). Of course, there is no on street parking on ANY major street in SCS, which explains why.

How come those haven't been hauled off by metal scrappers?

My thoughts too Pam. It isn't worth as much as the copper on the roof of the Lee Plaza, but it has to be a hell of alot easier to get to. But then I am trying to apply common sense to scrapping, kind of like applying intelligence to the military, it just doesn't work.

I wouldn't mind getting one of those and cleaning it up.

Ever take a parking meter apart? The guts and innards are just fascinating. I'll have to pick up a couple next time I'm in the neighborhood. Hopefully before the scrappers read about them here. :-)

Ooh! Where exactly is this? I'd like to grab a few for my parents. They own classic cars and i thought it might be interesting to have one or two.
