I ate there for the last time a couple of weeks ago. They raised the prices of the beans and rice, changed the recipie and it is now an overiced meal (paid over $9 for beans and rice!).

I thought it was pretty bad when they dropped the celery and carrots from the peanut butter and honey sandwiches as well; making it $4.75 for a pretty basic sandwich.

The menu emails are going out later and later.

The place and food doesn't seem to have the same pop as when they first opened.

I don't mean to pile on, but I happened to eat there today, and the avocado in my sandwich was rather underripe and crunchy.

Great new creative dishes! Anyone try the stuffed eggplant today or swiss chard earlier this week? Also, where else can you get vegan muffins? Sure, there are some kinks to be worked out but it seems like the new crew has it together.

To be honest the crew always had it together, the problems are higher up.

On two occasions the staff has quit. Maybe three is a charm?

They should do vegan food by the pound, serve yourself. Maybe throw in an organic salad bar, but I don't think they have nearly enough space.

I knew both the original chefs and the people who replaced them. They all thought, minus one person, that they were there to stay also.

Kevin seems hell bent on making sure that place fails.

Is the owner of the cafe not on the premises? When it comes to small restaurants, bars or carryouts, it's very hard to find stability in in the staff if the owner is not present. There has to be a boss who is vested or else eventually, service, food and other things will slip. When all an owner does is hire everything to get done and then expect to pocket the profits, it's funny how those profits often never show up.

I like the name Karmic Cafe (although originality lacking), and I like the concept (original for detroit). The service in the juice bar is way too slow. Being a vegetarian, I am thrilled to see a place like this open in Detroit or anywhere in the metro area (being in detroit does not make it special). However, the cost of the food is way too high for what they are serving. Also often when I go there they are always out of food and apologizing, this is a big negative for any business. Either you have it or don't advertise it. It seems there are communication problems stemming from management (who sets the tone for the establishment) and those trying to maintain the karma of the cafe. I hope the boss man can get it together and get some new perspective because I would definately like to see this place stick around for awhile. As a customer, I speak highly and promote verbally. Perhaps, things are now karmicly correct.
