Thanks, AIW, for this tribute to Joseph DiLauro. Of course, I am familiar with his "Exploration" outside the Detroit Public Library, but that's it. I will have to find out more about his other sculptures. |

Interesting story AIW. Thanks. It is so annoying to that some dufus would have been allowed to run that conduit behind that lovely angel. |

Lowell, It's actually a cross. A later addition. Added sometime in the 1980's. The church is scheduled for closure and likely demolition, hopefully the sculpture is saved. |

See if you can't get it from the demolition crew if the building does in fact come down. Is Parducci still alive or has he passed away as well? ...still not sure why the story of creation is considered a "myth"? Well maybe for some, but for others so is the big bang "theory" and the Book of Genesis for others. |

Have passed by "Exploration" countless times. Easily my favorite public sculpture in the Detroit area. Always thought it was created by an Italian artist long deceased, who maybe had a direct or indirect connection the Futurist movement. Very surprised discover DeLauro a local artist. Thank you for alerting us to his presence and his passing. |
