I wouldn't exactly call it an inspiring design. In fact, I feel like it sucks the creativity right out of me.

I agree...there are much better designs of buildings on that site ( I like the one in Bloomington, MN)

Modernism for everyone!

Although, is that ground-floor retail? I can't tell.

we can hope, brandon, we can hope... but this is the detroit riverfront after all... they should not build that thing and put in a big parking structure there instead... maybe with... wow... THIS is brilliant: They should build a parking structure with an Russian restaurant on the bottom floor, and call it "Russian Village" it will be awesome, and single handedly revitalize downtown.

While the Pickard-Chilton is perhaps not the most inspirational design, I do happen to prefer it to the recently constructed Campbell-Ewald building just west of Gratiot near Ford Field. Talk about an uninspirational design...

You're thinking of PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Campbell-Ewald is in Warren and Southfield.

Vandykenjefferson,
What do you mean by urban redevelopment? Are you talking about residential, commercial, industrial?
As for industrial, there is a huge steel plant that went up in the area of Livernois and I-94. Thyssen Krupp is the name of it. I think it's beautiful. I wonder how many people it employs? How many Detroit residents?
I used to work on Tireman between Epworth and Livernois. That building was bought and torn down by a place called Parts Galore. It's an environmentally responsbile auto salvage. It's going to look pretty good.
These are the little success stories that we need but never hear of. One of Detroit's main problems is lack of available work.

The Pickard Chilton design is IMHO better than what they built on Kennedy Square.

Some of you may not like it, but I usually like what Hines develops around the country.

The building is not going to be built is there really a need to debate the design.

Detroit once had an excellent good mass transit
system. We can move forward and improve mass transit. The best way to do this is to make city services more affordable to attract more jobs.

Click on link below and sign my petition drive and I will personally coordinate all the buses and fill them up. I can promise you this because I know how to do this and did in the western suburbs.

YES, I can fill the buses up all over metro Detroit and if I can't then please tell me. Who can?

Lowell, can we stop this blatant trolling for personal agenda? I don't mind threads going off topic occassionally, but that's not the same as Trainman using Dyes like personal ad space.
