Diverticulitis is pretty rare in young people, you don't usually see it in anyone under 60. Kwame is only 35 or 36, isn't he? That's pretty damn unlucky, it's like hitting the reverse lottery.

Can we please save the hate for another day? Let's simply use this thread to wish him well. If you want to bash KK (and in a time when we should all be praying for his speedy recovery) then take it to another thread. Please, let this thread be a thread devoted to dignified well-wishing for the Mayor and his family. Sheesh!

I know a guy who suffered with this starting around the age of 17. He's 34 now and his doctors say that his drastic change in diet saved his life.

He's vegan since 2000, and doing great. This is winable, just takes a little discipline.

I beleive that Mayor Kilpatrick will be fine through something as simple as adding more fiber to his diet with raw fruits and veggies.

Not a nutritionist, but I have seen these steps help terminal cancer (colon) patients as well.

"What causes diverticular disease? Although not proven, the dominant theory is that a low-fiber diet is the main cause of diverticular disease."

I'd bet he has elevated yeast levels as well.

Probably a white coating on his tongue, too.

Classic Yeast overgrowth.

Wish him well, this is nothing to mess around with...a burst diverticulitis sac could be instant blood poisoning.

Why is asking what he was doing in Houston a negative question when I didn't even know he was there? (And it seems no one else here did either until Frank relayed the Fox2 News info.)

The Big D was in the Big H at a COGIC convention.

Most Pentecostals receive the Holy Spirit on their tongues, but I guess he received it down thither.

Should have not swapped religions to save his bid for reelection, I suppose.

Not good to play with faith like that.

He will be having a press conference tomorrow. Hopefully he is doing well...

the media was already parked outside the Manoogian trying to get an answer as to why they were lead to believe that he was leaving the hospital friday, when, in fact, he had already left earlier that morning...

Susanarosa,
My thoughts exactly.

The only question is this: What's in it for Pastor Sheard? I'm still puzzled why Sheard is (I'm told, please tell me if I'm misinformed) the only COGIC pastor in Detroit who supported the Big D's reelection bid.

Sources tell me one thing, but I'd love to hear the word on the streets as to why, despite so many COGIC pastors swearing their support for Hendrix in the last election, the Sheards decided to throw their weight behind the Big D.

And certainly one would assume that other COGIC pastors from Detroit were at the convention. Curious not hearing well-wishing from the bishops of the other two Detroit COGIC dioceses who must certainly have been in attendance.

Diverticulitis is a painful thing. My dad has had it, several times and yes, he's 60. I begged him to let me drive him to the hospital. that man wouldn't let me do it, he drove HIMSELF to the hospital. I went with him, but man is he ever strong. and, Yes, I've had it a few times too. and yes, it is painful! Mamma said, "no more nuts for Christmas!" she says... "we already got two big nuts running around here... we don't need anymore!" Me and dad looked at one another..."you don't think she means us, do ya?" :-)
