I am looking for the home of the Detroit Electric Car company (formerly known as the Anderson Electric Car company). I have two addresses: 416 Clay St. (which does not show up on google maps as a valid address) and 731 10th St. Can anyone deny or confirm these addresses as the location of the plant? Does anyone have any historic pictures of the building(s) when the company was in existence? (1907 to 1919) Thanks! Nain |

Did you search the Old Car Factories thread? There's a little discussion with maps of 416 Clay at this page: https://www.atdetroit.net/forum/mes sages/5/43057.html And our esteemed Hornwrecker has "THE LIST" which includes both addresses you list: https://www.atdetroit.net/forum/mes sages/5/56320.html |

quote:The Detroit electric car was produced from 1907 to 1938 by the Anderson Carriage Co. (1907-1910), then the Anderson Electric Car Co. (1911-1918) and finally the Detroit Electric Car Co (1919-1938), all of them being located in Detroit.

The addresses change over time, all are part of the same large building. Why? Who the hell knows, but it happens a lot with these old factories, maybe a different number looks better in print to some ad guy. Youse guys did real good making witt de info.
