So I'm out with a buddy on Monday and we drive by Heidelburg and see a line of police cars blocking off the street, and lots of trailers parked on the vacant lots.
I thought that it was a filming session for "Blade".
Turns out that W magazine is using Detroit as a backdrop for a huge fashion spread...with Bruce Weber shooting and Kate Moss posing...A friend at Slows confirmed that they did some catering on the set.
So we're getting more popular as a backdrop for film and stills..and I'd like to think that Kate tried the pulled pork, as I always thought that she looked like she needed a sandwich.

"The Heidelburg Project being used as a backdrop for a huge fashion spread? WTF???"

Why not?? It's unique and something you don't see very day so why not use it for a fashion shoot.

The models shouldn't need such an ugly backdrop to make them look better.

Ah yes, the eternal debate whether the Heidelberg Project is beautiful or ugly.

Obviously a famous & noted photogrpaher like Bruce Weber thinks it was worthy to bring in a super model to shoot against it. Like it or not we can't say that it's not unique... and somtimes that's what they're looking for.

Heidleberg is gorgeous, it's to bad the city wouldn't let him take it further. I guess weeded lots and burnt out homes are better looking

i heard on 89x the other morning that she showed up at their birthday bash, and they were assuming she was there to see the yeah yeah yeahs because most people spotted her there at their set...imagine how surreal that was, to have a super model show up at a radio station concert!

i think they also mentioned they were doing photo shoots on belle isle as well, for this fashion spread.

It is very surreal to think that a model likes music.

I think the surreal part is that she was at a radio station concert. Not exactly high-glamour.
