Elmwood is a wonderful place, especially in the fall. Your pics are great - I havent shot there in the winter with the foliage gone, thats cool that you can see the skyline peaking through the trees.

Make sure to visit Sonic while you are there

Thanks, Mauser. Yeah I was hoping for interesting skyline contexts, and I found some. Going in the morning would have been ideal.

I really like the preserved terrain, including the small river that runs through, to provide a glimpse of what Detroit's interior used to look like.

Thought some of you might be interested in this, but ill be having my first large photography exhibit starting tonite from 7-10 at the Bean & Leaf Cafe in Royal Oak. Most of my pictures will be of the city some of which ive posted links to on here. Thought Id post this considering the amount of support ive received from this board, so thanks and hopefully some of you can make it out.

Ryan

I noticed some of your shots at Bean & Leaf the other day before catching a movie at the Main. If I wan't heading to Ann Arbor tonight, I would definitely stop by...

Let us know if you have any other exhibits/shows in the future.

Im not speaking of my work in the show but there were more then just a few good pictures. Guess my work was the "cliched" stuff since I was the one who had the most shots of the city... oh well.

Heres todays shot.

Southen, forgive me if I misunderstand, but in your caption for the photo linked on your 03/10/08 12:39pm post, you mention the "large black building in the foreground." Is that the DTE building? That's being torn down for the new federal building? I'm just kind of surprised if that's the case. I've been in there recently and while the upper floors are standard office fare, the first and second floor lobbies look good. In fact, I think they're renovating the second floor lobby...

Elmwood is fantastic, and the creek is Bloody Run, has a very prominent place in Detroit history. Someday maybe the creeks and runs in Detroit will get uncapped.

D_mcc I was there for three semesters starting in fall 2004 and ending in fall 2005.

Rocknrollscientist - its not the DTE building, they are doing lots of work on that place and its still occupied. That building is outside of the CBD.

Anybody can point and shoot.

I like Southens car photos, those are sweet.

The LeafBean show was good - I really dig Vanessas stuff. Southens photos were cool, it was funny to see he quoted the "slumpy" name from my site - I shoulda trademarked that when i wrote it - ha !

I stopped by the opening to say 'hi'. but I guess I shoulda left it at just stopping by. ahwell.

Funny to see Detroit stuff in Royal Oak though. I wonder how many burby people actually get it ?
