That could be Eastern High School on Detroit's Lower East Side. That's where Coleman Young went and graduated in the 1930s. |

Too small for a high school. Definitely a grade school of 1920 architecture. Ookpik for president! |

I did a keyword ("school") and visual search through the 365 results I got at WSU Virtual Motor City and came up empty. As Ray1936 notes, there are many mid-1930's photos there of Detroit elementary schools that have a cupola similar to the one in Old Photo X. |

I wonder if the round windows would be a clue? Could it by a body of water? |

It has to be that school thats very close to the Packard Plant. I think its a block or so from East Grand Blvd. I don't know anything about it, though. Here's a pic... http://i97.photobucket.com/alb ums/l206/robot_77/Packard%20Pl ant/P1010454x.jpg |

It looks relatively unchanged, the original picture was taken in the playground, the recent one was taken from the street. |

The school building is located on the north side of E. Ferry St. between Concord St. on the west (left) and Canton St. on the east.
Who knows the name of this former school? |

The Emma Thomas School. Makes sense since the previous photos were around Packard. |

the photobucket image shows the school is boarded up and surrounded by fences, obviously not in use. but that aerial image shows all sorts of cars and trucks surrounding it, like it is being used for something. anyone have any more info on why that might be? |

Wait, if Jjaba was at the ribbon cutting in 1905, then wouldn't he be 102 minimum? |
