Most of the top posters are full of hot air anyway...

I like the demographic and regional breakdown. great stats Lowell.

BTW: White Castle should be near the top of best eateries by far. :-)

Can I get my 1999-2001 stats added to my 2004-2005? :-)

Just how is it that the first registered forumer only go back to 2003? I was posting here as late as July 2001, and I remember Jjaba posting back then as well. Was there "posting without registering" back then?

It seems most other forums died off with the dotcom bust. Why is this one so active? Is it the photography? The theme of Detroit? Seriously.

Its peoples love for Detroit, plain and simple. How many other cities and regions do you see come to the defense of their city when talk show hosts, sports broadcasters, and venues mock them? I would have to say that it also has a lot to do with how blue collar this region is. Even the white collars in this region have blue collar ties. Their family likely migrated to this region for factory work of some sort. They grew up with the mentality that hard work pays off and offered a good lifestyle and they took pride in this.

Metro Detroit has its many problems, but lack of pride is not one of them.

Yeah, SS, I think that's it.

I can't help contrasting it with Phoenix here. Everyone in Phoenix has allegiances elsewhere. There's a sense that if Phoenix ever suffered the blows that Detroit has survived, it would be abandoned to the desert overnight. In contrast, Detroit is tenacious, committed to persevere.

The photography is nice too. More snow photos, please!

Who's the 1.2% "other gender" in the stats?!

Gistok, there was indeed a time when you could post without being registered. A spat of ugliness led to the imposition of what felt to some at the time as a bit of fascism. "You can have your free speech, as long as we know who you are, etc."

Looking over the list, I feel a wee bit older. I was once in the top 10, but I slacked off in the past year. Almost everybody on the list ahead of me got here after me.

"Metro Detroit has its many problems, but lack of pride is not one of them."

hmm I would disagree. It seems this region has absolutely NO pride in its hometown, Detroit. In other regions your a New Yorker or a Bostonian or Chicagoan or whatever if u live anywhere in the metro region. Here, no one in the suburbs considers themselves 'Detroiters' and would likely view that as an insult.

sorry for threadjacking!

Those stats are cumulative, since the forum started, right? So just out of curiosity, is there any way to see what the posting stats are JUST for 2005?

G_B, no not really, I just have a bug up my butt about people who think they are better than everyone else. Acting it was one thing, but M_D actually came out and said it. And M_D enhanced "its" pretentions by always using Ad Hominem attacks against anyone who didn't agree with what "it" had to say.

The 2005 DetroitYes Stats have been published, but are they a reliable index of forumer participation for the last year?

We talked with experts who assert that the REAL story is not being told. Tune into our special investigative thread in the Detroit Connections section to see what we discovered. The results may surprise you.
