Any news regarding Windsor's new bus terminal? Thought city council was supposed to voting on it soon.

From today's Windsor Star. Also, I believe that Aiw and/or Goat have seen renderings (or at least have spoken to people involved in this project). Hopefully the terminal is up and running prior to the college programs moving into the Cleary (today's Star reported that an agreement has been reached on this as well).

Terminal spending

City council approved an updated budget Monday of about $6 million for the new downtown transit terminal, but the final construction tenders will have to come back to council for approval.

The province will contribute $2 million toward the project and the city will pick up the remaining $4 million. But an agreement with Greyhound has the transit company paying the city back its $2 million share over 25 years.

The nearly $4,000,000 project was approved last night, and rendering released.

Here is the new bus station:

Thanks Aiw, I guess you were right -- the station does look less than exciting.

That being said, it will be a significant improvement over the current terminal.

Yeah, I was not happy either. I have since talked to some folks from the city including my two councillors and told them I thought that they were to incorporate the building with the surrounding area.
I guess they forgot to look across the street at the turn of the century building and instead chose to look at the mess they call the "art" gallery only two blocks away (and behind it).
It does remind me of an airport hanger though.
Another change was that they are now including busses at the rear of the building. So my question is. Who the hell is going to buy one of the new houses that will be built in the urban village across from where busses let passengers on and off? Easy...NO ONE!

Thanks guys. Better than the old one I guess. I hear what you are saying about the new urban village.
