I have been reading the posts on this sight for awhile now and am wondering why so many people are uptight. Just today I was sighted as the reason Detroit is so messed up. It seems as though I have single handedly messed up the city and for what. Allowing my dog to use the bathroom. Now kids can't go outside and play. Sometimes I think its better for some people to smoke weed so they can calm there asses down. |

Today I was walking my dog around Peck park and she used the bathroom. Well some guy with his panties in a bunch starts yelling at me saying I'm the reason the city is messed up and kids can't go out an play. Maybe I was wrong but if you come at me with that stank attitude it won't solve anything. In fact you may end up with the boo boo on your car if I was a different kind of person. I feel like there are so many people on this site with the same "panties in a bunch" attitude and I am wondering why. Can we not speak to each other with respect without being sacarstic and just plain evil? |

It must be something in the water Col_kat. Or, it maybe there are too many rats in the cage. The more people there are the higher the stress levels become because of the competition for -- well, everything! The anger quotient rises out of proportion to the indiscretion. Col Kat, as a father who uses parks around the city a lot (at least when the grass isn't 3 ft. high), I'm certainly on the side of the guy yelling at you. Letting your dog take a shit in the middle of the park and not cleaning it up is disgusting. It's just waiting for a kid to come by and step in, track home and then get other sick. If your dog goes, that's part of being a dog. But be civilized and clean up after Fido. Do you clean up after your dog when you take him on walks in the neighborhood? I can't believe the number of people I see who let their dog shit on someone elses lawn and then they walk on as if nothing happened. One person even let their dog walk right up into the flower bed under the window of my house and squat. I ran out and cussed the guy out before the dog could let loose. Bring some plastic grocery bags in your pocket next time you walk your dog. |

Today's lesson is homophones. These are words that sound the same but are spelled differently. The example above is great. "Sight" means "seeing," or something TO see. "Site" means "location," or in this instance, website. "Cite" means to quote, indicate or reference, as in "I was cited as ..." Now THAT'S one to grow on. <---- uptight, but with good reason |

And knowing is half the battle...... As an owner of two BIG dogs, I pick up after my dogs... and I HATE it when other people don't. It's called, showing respect for others. One note, in the big cities in Germany, France and Italy, people let their dogs shit in the middle of the sidewalk and not pick it up. It's disgusting. Just think about that you're walking around and step in someone's dog "landmine" and how that would make you feel. |

I am the owner of three dogs and walk them all the time WITH A POOPER SCOOPER. It is the law in Baltmore and a damn good one. I don't think anyone is upset about you walking the dog but get in the habit of cleaning it up. One very tiny step in making Detroit a better place to live. |

The person who yelled at you probably ran into this problem before and was getting fed up. Maybe you were the first one he caught so you got hit with all his pent up frustration from the previous times. |

Maybe a ticket and hefty fine from a smiling, softspoken, fastidiously polite Detroit cop would be more to your liking? It's the law, and for a great reason. You should have considered it a free warning and thanked the guy. Quit wringing your hands and get over it. |

Oh yes, one more thing: You said your dog "used the bathroom." First, if he had, your dog is smarter than you. Second, if he had, no one would have complained because you woulda flushed it, come outta the stall and no one woulda knew. What you really meant was "My dog took a dump outside in a public place where anybody young or old coulda stepped in it and my servants weren't with me to clean it up so I left it." Uptight? You sure are if you think you're too good to obey a simple, reasonable law. IMO Detroit and all cities need fewer folks like you. Buy 40 acres somewhere, fence it and let your dog crap all over, then your kids can walk in it. However, if you're this uptight, you don't have kids, do ya? |

Why should someone speak to you like you have some sense? If you let your dog crap in public and didn't clean it up, you clearly have none and were therefore addressed appropriately. |

Col_kat I suggest that you make sure you take you pooper bags with your next time, as well. That seems like the smart thing to do. My neighbor has a huge dog that takes these massive dumps and he has always been courteous and cleaned the area. he also has something that he pours on the grass(I couldn't tell you whatb that is) I would be fed up if someone didn't clean it up as well. if I noticed it, I would politely tell the owner to clean up the mess and offer a bag if he didn't have one. If he didn't cooperate, then he would have to deal with the consequences of wearing the shit back to the house or car. Justmysay... |

No, your point isn't wasted at all. You make several excellent points: Someone who would let their dog crap and leave it in a place where others, at a minimum, would have to pick it up, or small children (barefoot in summer?) could step in it, cares not a lick for the image of the place (Detroit? or just the park or street?) where they leave the crap, nor for others who have to deal with it. Probably a safe assumption that you toss cigarette butts out the window or mash 'em under your foot and don't consider it "litter" but merely something for the servants (AKA we, the taxpayers) to deal with. Trust me, if I "end up with boo boo on my car" you'll end up with "boo boo" on your face, and maybe some down your throat. We've already established you don't have kids. Your dog is the closest you'll get to that. And learn to spell "sense", especially if you get some. Idiot. |

Sorry Miss Cleo - folks should expect to be able to safely let kids run barefoot, in a park, on the grass. But more to your point - it didn't seem to bother Pinhead up above if his dog "accidently" crapped in your yard either - I suspect if you weren't watching, he'd leave the "boo boo" for you and your kids to discover. Perhaps you've seen the latest thing in running - barefoot - including in marathons. It throws a whole new light on what we consider "clean streets" as well they could be, save for a few. |
